Driving on the road
The Spanish government’s 2026 page states: no vignettes (time-based charges) exist in Spain. Older notes that claimed one were wrong. Official list: administracion.gob.es peajes y viñetas.
Only distance peaje on listed AP / concession roads. Autovías (A) are generally free. Pay VIA-T, card or cash; some Basque stretches are free-flow ANPR.
The AP-7 Alicante ring has been free since December 2025. SEITT radials (R-2/R-3/R-4/R-5 and some others) are free every night 00:00–06:00.
Madrid ZBE and Barcelona ZBE are access rules, not a road vignette. Foreign cars entering Barcelona’s ZBE must register in the metropolitan register before they go in.
Green Card required for foreign and UA-registered cars.
No national EV motorway discount. Local only: Catalonia C-32 ECO Eléctrico 75% on weekdays with VIA-T (register at ecoviat.com); Bizkaia (Interbiak) 25% for accredited EVs paying with OBE.
