Rovinietă e-vignette for most motorways (A), expressways (DX) and national roads (DN). Local and communal roads and some bypasses are free. ANPR, no sticker.

Official CNAIR Category A (cars, EUR incl. VAT): 1 day €3.50; 10 days €6.00; 30 days €9.50; 60 days €15.00; 12 months €50.00. Paid in RON at the BNR rate for the last day of the previous month.

Official shop: roviniete.ro (a /ru/ path is also offered). Also petrol stations, post offices and the border.

Fine for cars: 500–1,000 RON (from 1 Sep 2025; was 250–500). Half of the minimum if paid within 15 days. Buy before you join a paid road.

Extra, not in the rovinietă: Fetești–Cernavodă (A2) ~13 RON; Giurgiu–Ruse Danube ~15–20 RON; Călărași–Silistra ferry ~30–35 RON; Vadu Oii–Giurgeni (DN2A) 8–10 RON.

Alcohol policy is 0.0‰ (can be criminal over 0.4‰). A valid home-country MOT is required — cars without MOT can be refused entry.

Speed limits for cars: motorway 130 (minimum 50) / express 100 / rural 90 / urban 50. Dipped beam 24/7.

Green Card required for the whole stay. Common first EU country after UA or Moldova — a short vignette covers transit.

Winter tyres 1 Nov–31 Mar and whenever there is snow or ice. Carry a vest for anyone who leaves the car.

No published EV vignette discount — pay the standard car tariff.
