Driving on the road
E-vignette is mandatory on most motorways (A) and class I/II national roads. Class III and urban streets are usually free. Stickers are gone — ANPR cameras read the plate.
Official BGTOLL prices from 1 Aug 2026 (EUR, cars ≤3.5 t): daily €5.30; weekend €6.60; weekly €10.00; monthly €19.90; quarterly €35.90; annual €64.50. Bulgaria is in the euro. Reseller euro quotes are not this official table.

Official compensatory fee without a vignette: €46.50 (from the 1 Aug 2026 BGTOLL notice). Same for foreign plates.
Extra, not in the vignette: Danube bridges Vidin–Calafat and Ruse–Giurgiu (pay at the plaza; confirm the current operator tariff). Ferries are also extra.
No UA exemption in 2026 — Ukrainian plates buy a vignette like everyone else. The 2022 free-road notice is obsolete.
Speed limits for cars: motorway 140 / express 120 / rural 90 / urban 50. Many 30 km/h urban zones.
Alcohol 0.49‰. Green Card required for UA-registered cars. Unpaid fines can cause problems on re-entry.
A 7-day vignette is usually enough for transit to Greece or Turkey. Check that your chosen road is in the paid network.
No published EV vignette discount — pay the standard car tariff.
