Ukraine
Planning a trip to Ukraine? On this page you will find information about motorway vignettes, toll payment methods and rules for driving on paid roads.
Driving on the road
Ukraine does not operate a vignette or a national motorway toll for cars today. Roads are mostly free.
A 2022 plan for a Krakovets–Lviv–Brody–Rivne concession (about 280 km) is historical only — it was not built as described.
If a concession road is ever opened, a free alternative must exist by law. Do not budget a Ukrainian vignette for a current trip.
When you leave Ukraine, neighbouring countries now charge UA plates like any other foreign plate. Wartime free-road privileges in PL, BG, SK and AT have expired.
Carry valid national insurance at home and a Green Card for every country you enter.
