The Renault Bridger could arrive in Europe as a Dacia, possibly as early as 2028.

The Renault Bridger Concept, a city crossover in the entry-level B segment, was unveiled in March 2026. It was designed in India, where it will go on sale in 2027 before being exported. At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, it was suggested that it might be available in Europe under the Dacia brand as the Dacia Bridger EV. According to elektrowoz.pl, the realistic timeline is 2028, as Dacia has already planned an electric four-wheeler called the Hipster for 2027.

Under 4 meters and 400 liters of trunk space

Renault has not yet released the exact technical specifications. It is known that the Bridger will be available with various drive types and will have “less than 4 meters in length.” For comparison, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is 3.92 meters long, while the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is 4.14 meters long, so the new crossover would be closer in size to the Renault 5. To avoid taking customers away from both models, the electric version would need to have a less powerful drive system, a smaller battery, and a weaker engine. Such a vehicle would essentially be a larger version of the Dacia Spring.

The concept does, however, feature a decent trunk space. It holds 400 liters, whereas the current Dacia Sandero Stepway, although longer (around 4.1 meters), offers 328 liters.

The simplest scenario involves transplanting the powertrain from the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric, meaning a battery with a capacity of around 27.5-28.5 kWh (net and gross) and an engine with a power output of 60 kW (82 hp). For now, these are just assumptions, as Renault has not confirmed any specifications for Europe.

There is no information available on range or price yet.

Where it would fit in the Dacia lineup

Sylvia dos Santos, who is in charge of model naming at Renault, said in a promotional video that Bridger draws on the positive associations linked to the Duster. The Duster is sold as a Renault in India and South America, and as a Dacia in Europe, so the same path for Bridger seems logical.

Dacia plans to launch four electric vehicles by 2030. Three are confirmed: Spring (already on sale), Sandero EV, and Sandero Stepway EV. Bridger could be the fourth or take over as Stepway EV’s successor if Hipster, set to debut in 2027, joins the lineup.

The direct competitor would be the Dacia Spring, while among foreign brands there’s the BYD Dolphin Surf (3.99 meters). To a lesser extent, Bridger would compete with the Volkswagen ID. Cross (4.16 meters) and the Renault 4 E-Tech from its own group.

From the editorial team: A Dacia Bridger EV with a 400-liter trunk and the same powertrain as the Twingo would be a sensible alternative to the Spring in Poland, which offers less cargo space. However, until Renault confirms it and reveals the price, Bridger remains an Indian concept car, and we won’t see it in European showrooms before 2028.
