Peugeot plans to launch as many as 7 vehicles by 2030, including several electric models. The Peugeot E-208 will introduce the STLA One to the market.

Under the FaSTLAne strategy, Peugeot has announced seven new vehicles by 2030, that is, within just four years. The first to be unveiled in 2027 will be the new Peugeot E-208, along with its “high-tech platform,” STLA One. “Innovation and design” are set to help the brand surpass its Chinese competitors. It should be noted that in the D-segment, this competition will take on a rather unique form, as Peugeot will begin selling in China a car based on the Dongfeng platform.

More Peugeots, Always More Peugeots

Peugeot has become one of Stellantis’ flagship brands, which is why there are numerous upcoming launches. The new Peugeot E-208 will arrive within the next few months, while the gasoline (hybrid) version is expected to be ready later, as the STLA One platform “cannot be converted to gasoline so quickly,” according to Auto Express (source). The demand for a more traditional powertrain will be met using the current generation 208 [after it is refreshed? – edit].

In 2028, a new Peugeot E-2008 will enter the market, also built on the STLA One platform, along with its conventional gasoline-powered counterpart. In addition to these two vehicles, three more models are planned to replace the current 308, 308 SW (station wagon), and 408 models. One of them will be transformed into a crossover SUV, as indicated by the labels on the slide (illustration below). All of these models will be developed using STLA One and will come available with several types of powertrains (“multi-energy”).

The frequent mentions of STLA One are likely not coincidental; it seems they serve to reassure the manufacturer’s shareholders that Peugeot has no intention of introducing Leapmotor’s technologies into the market, unlike Opel or Citroën.

The STLA One platform is supposed to feature a unified vehicle management computer (STLA Brain), “delivering top-tier sensations and performance,” and even allowing for steer-by-wire technology. This last suggestion is interesting, as steer-by-wire is a more expensive solution compared to a traditional steering column. Yet Peugeot is announcing new cars in the B and C segments, which are generally price-sensitive. However, it’s not impossible that higher levels of autonomy or steer-by-wire might appear in larger models, such as those in the D segment.
