Nio said daily battery swaps averaged more than 110,000 over the past 88 days.
Its China network has grown to 4,236 swap stations, with 84.5% of users having a station within 3 kilometers of home or work.
Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has surpassed 130 million cumulative battery swaps as usage of its replenishment network continues to expand, with its 3 brands sharing a new generation of swapping facilities.
The Chinese EV maker announced that it reached the milestone at 6:53:21 pm Beijing Time today, 88 days after surpassing 120 million swaps on August 7.
Daily battery swaps averaged more than 110,000 over those 88 days, with a Nio, Onvo or Firefly vehicle completing a swap and leaving a station every 0.77 seconds on average, the company said.
As of November 3, Nio had 4,236 battery swap stations in China, up by 230 from 4,006 on August 7.
The company also had 5,556 charging stations offering 32,261 charging piles, bringing its combined charging and swap station count to 9,792. Nio said its charging and swapping infrastructure footprint was the largest in the industry.
Network density has also improved. Nio said 84.5% of users had at least 1 swap station within 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) of their home or workplace, up from 80.1% on August 7.
Its 1,077 highway swap stations connect 550 cities, forming a network spanning 9 north-south routes, 11 east-west routes and 16 major urban clusters.
Nio has also equipped 92 scenic driving routes with charging and swapping facilities and plans to bring the total to 100 by the end of 2026, further expanding coverage for leisure travel.
The milestone comes nearly 3 months after the first fifth-generation swap stations entered service. On August 7, Nio opened the new stations in 7 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, giving its Firefly sub-brand access to battery swapping for the first time.
The fifth-generation stations use a swapping platform that accommodates different wheelbases, allowing vehicles from all 3 brands — Nio, Onvo and Firefly — to share the same swapping facilities.
Cumulative electricity delivered through battery swaps reached 6.89 billion kWh at the latest milestone, Nio said. The company estimates that swapping has saved users about 110 million hours compared with charging.
Nio opened its first battery swap station in Shenzhen on May 20, 2018, and completed its 100 millionth swap on February 6 this year. It took the company 2,819 days to reach 100 million swaps from its first service.
Nio views its expanding charging and swapping network as part of its product competitiveness. The company said on Tuesday that the network had achieved economies of scale and become an important driver of vehicle sales growth.
The battery swap station in Xinjiang uses solar power and energy storage to operate off-grid.
