Zerova brings 1.44 MW MCS dispenser to Europe

Zerova is introducing its MCS dispenser for electric trucks and buses in Europe for the first time at the IAA Transportation in Hannover. The satellite charging unit is designed to deliver charging capacities of up to 1,440 kW.

The dispenser is based on the manufacturer’s already available power cabinets, the DO360 and DZ480. Thus, the power electronics and the charging point are physically separated. The output voltage ranges from 150 to 950 V DC (DO360) or 200 to 950 V DC (DZ480).

The liquid-cooled charging cables are five or seven meters long and available with either MCS or CCS plugs. The charging power of 1,440 kW (1,500 A) applies to the MCS end. The maximum charging power for the CCS end is not specified in the announcement.

The dispenser is controlled via a 10.4-inch touchscreen. RFID, QR code, and Plug&Charge are available for authentication, with an optional credit card terminal as well. Connection to backends is achieved through OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1. According to the manufacturer, in addition to meeting CE requirements, the system complies with IEC 61851-1 and IEC 61851‑23 standards for use in the EU, making it suitable for deployment throughout the EU and EWR.

According to Zerova, the system is designed for both fleet depots and charging parks along long-distance routes.

Heavy freight transportation is among the most dynamic areas in electrification. Truck manufacturers and charging station operators are working intensively to build megawatt-class charging infrastructure along key freight routes, according to Zerova. With the MCS charger, the company claims it can directly support this transition and leverage its expertise in depot and fleet charging to apply it to megawatt-scale applications for trucks and long-distance buses.

Currently, Zerova is showcasing its own solution for megawatt charging, as well as well-known DC charging solutions, at the IAA in Hannover at booth C20 in Hall 13.
