The Xpeng L05 is the Chinese brand's latest SUV and has already been unveiled in its home market. However, the manufacturer has now announced plans to bring the L05 to Europe and Germany. Xpeng has introduced the L05 (known locally as the Mona L05) to the Chinese market. At just under 4.90 metres long, this mid-size SUV is the third model in the lineup, alongside the M03 and L03, and it takes the position of the flagship. In China, the L05 is available with a purely electric drivetrain as well as a range-extender version.

The price in China starts at 144,800 Yuan (approx. €19,400 euros). The L05 is set to arrive in Germany in early 2027. Xpeng plans to announce all details about the European version, including prices, equipment, and drivetrain options, at the Brussels Motor Show, which will take place from 8 to 17 January 2027.

With dimensions of 4.87 metres in length, 1.93 metres in width, and 1.64 metres in height, along with a wheelbase of 2.94 metres, the SUV offers a boot capacity of 702 litres, which can be expanded to 1,913 litres by folding down the rear seats. The purely electric version also features a 102-litre frunk.

Inside, the L05 provides 41 different storage options, including a six-litre compartment in the centre tunnel and a ten-litre compartment in the rear. The front seats come with a massage function and can be folded flat with a single handle. A voice assistant can process inputs in both Chinese and English through dialogue.

The L05 does away with a conventional instrument display behind the steering wheel. Instead, the driver uses a 26.8-inch head-up display, supplemented by a central 17.3-inch touchscreen. Higher trim levels also include an additional 17.3-inch screen in the rear. For its driver assistance systems, Xpeng relies on its in-house developed Turing AI chips. The Max trim uses one chip, while the top versions of the Ultra SE series use two, providing increased computing power.

All purely electric models are powered by a 183 kW (245 PS) electric motor on the rear axle. Energy is stored in LFP batteries with capacities of 58.2 kWh or 71.1 kWh, offering a range of 535 to 635 kilometres under the generous Chinese CLTC standard. The EREV variants combine the same 183 kW electric motor with a 37.2 kWh LFP battery and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as a generator. This enables a purely electric CLTC range of 310 kilometres and a total range of up to 1,310 kilometres with a full tank and charged battery.
