Xpeng Mona L05: new SUV with 183 kW power and 635 kilometers of range

The Xpeng Mona L05 is a new mid-size SUV for the Chinese market. It is the third model in the Mona series, following the Mona M03 sedan and the Mona L03 SUV. In China, the Mona L05 is available with both EV and EREV powertrains. The top EV version has a range of 635 kilometers. The Mona L05 will also arrive in the Netherlands next year under the name Xpeng L05.
How is Xpeng doing in China?

Things are going fairly well. In September 2026, Xpeng sold 30,599 cars, accounting for a 1.89% market share and ranking 18th out of 99 brands. This is slightly worse than previous months, but still much better than at the start of this year when Xpeng was ranked 29th. Xpeng offers 11 models in China, including the new Mona L05.

The Xpeng Mona L05 features a modern, streamlined body design. The front end is recognizable as a Mona, with a short hood and the familiar boomerang-shaped headlights.

It is also a fairly typical Chinese SUV, featuring half-submerged door handles, a shark-inspired design for the D-pillar, a large spoiler above the rear window, and a wide light bar at the back. Bright yellow brake calipers are a new design trend in China, and Xpeng is following it.
Interior of the Xpeng Mona L05

The cabin follows Xpeng’s familiar approach, with a minimalist design, plenty of light and space, and a significant amount of technology.

The driver views the road through a 26.8-inch AR-HUD, with a 17.3-inch touchscreen positioned in the center of the dashboard. Rear passengers have access to a second 17.3-inch screen that folds out from the ceiling.

According to Xpeng, no competitor in this segment offers such a large screen in the rear. There is a drawer under the rear seat with a 10-liter storage space, and a compartment in the armrest between the rear seats holds 9.2 liters.
The Xpeng Mona L05 also features a 256-color ambient lighting system, an extra-large vanity mirror for the passenger, and an Xopera AI audio system with 20 speakers. Xpeng has not disclosed the system’s power rating, although most other Chinese brands typically do.
New AI
Master Agent is Xpeng’s new AI assistant. It is an upgraded version of the existing voice assistant Xiao P, but with much broader capabilities. The system utilizes Xpeng’s own multimodal AI model, Omni, which can process speech, text, and images, as well as understand less concrete commands. Additionally, Master Agent can control various vehicle systems and combine tasks. Xpeng highlights three key features:
Multimodal perception: The Master Agent uses its own Omni-model and can process not only speech and text but also visual information.
Intent recognition: The assistant tries to understand what the driver wants to achieve, rather than simply executing individual commands.
System-wide control: The Master Agent can coordinate various vehicle functions to carry out more complex tasks.
The trunk capacity is 702 liters, and it increases to 1913 liters with the rear seat folded down. According to Xpeng, this is large enough for nine rolling suitcases. The EV version also has a 102-liter frunk. The EREV does not have a frunk.
Xpeng Mona L05 Specifications
The Xpeng Mona L05 is based on the SEPA 2.0 platform with a 400 V architecture. Its dimensions are 4870/1930/1636, with a wheelbase of 2940. The curb weight ranges from 1930 kg to 1995 kg. Xpeng offers both EV and EREV versions, both with rear-wheel drive.
EV
The EV has 183 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between two LFP batteries:
58.2 kWh, 12.2 kWh/100 km, range of 535 km. 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
71.7 kWh, 12.6 kWh/100 km. Range of 635 km. 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
The charging time is identical for both batteries: 19.1 minutes to reach 10-80% charge. This time, the electric motor manufacturer is not Xpeng itself but Luxshare Intelligent Manufacturing, a Chinese supplier that also produces many electronic components.
The battery supplier is CALB.
EREV
The EREV uses a 1.5 liter range extender with 70 kW and 135 Nm of torque. The electric motor is the same as that in the EV version. The fuel consumption is 15.8 kWh and 5.26 liters per 100 kilometers. The tank capacity is 42 liters, and the LFP battery has a capacity of 37.2 kWh. Xpeng claims an electric range of 310 km and a combined range of 1310 km. Fast charging takes 14.7 minutes.
The battery supplier is Eve Energy. The supplier of the H15R gasoline engine is Chongqing Xiaokang Power, a subsidiary of the Chinese automaker Seres.
ADAS
The Xpeng Mona L05 uses the XNGP driving assistance system (ADAS), based on the Xpeng Turing Intelligent Driving VLA platform. However, there is a significant difference in capabilities among the various trims:

The entry-level model does not have a separate ADAS chip; the other base models have one Turing AI chip, and only the top model has two. The driving assistance system of the top model offers features similar to Tesla’s FSD. Xpeng does not use lidar and is moving further toward a vision-only system, like Tesla. Where Xpeng previously combined cameras, millimeter-wave radars, and ultrasonic sensors, the Mona L05 uses only cameras and ultrasonic sensors. The latter are mainly used for parking.
Prices of the Xpeng Mona L05 in China
Chinese Xpeng customers can now order the Xpeng Mona L05 at Xpeng dealerships, experience stores, or online. There are four trim levels, five interior color combinations, and six exterior colors: Crescent Silver, Crystal Black, Fairyland Green, Micro Moon Gray, Nebula White, and Roland Purple.
The Xpeng Mona L05 costs between 144,800 and 176,800 yuan, which is equivalent to 19,400 to 23,700 euros. At this price point, the Mona L05 enters one of the most competitive segments in the Chinese automotive market, with dozens of rivals. Examples of direct competitors include vehicles such as the BYD Sealion 06, Changan Qiyuan Q06, Chery Fulwin T9L, and Leapmotor C10.
The price in the Netherlands has not been announced yet. The Xpeng MONA L03 costs between 35,000 and 46,000 euros in the Netherlands. A starting price of around 42,000 euros seems realistic for the new MONA L05.
