The XPENG L03 PowerX costs 167,900 zł. The EREV version can travel 215 km on electric power alone.

XPENG will introduce the L03 PowerX series hybrid to Europe, including Poland. The car costs 167,900 zł and is said to have a range of 215 km on electricity and 1,017 km with gasoline, both figures according to WLTP standards. The launch in Poland is scheduled for October 2026, with sales beginning in December.

The gasoline engine does not drive the wheels

The L03 PowerX is an EREV vehicle, also known as REEV. The wheels are driven solely by an electric motor with 245 HP, while the 1.5-liter gasoline engine acts as a power generator. Thus, drivers experience acceleration response similar to that of an electric car, but can continue driving on fuel once the battery is depleted.

The 37.25 kWh battery is larger than that in many conventional plug-in hybrids. The declared 215 km WLTP range would allow many drivers to avoid using the generator for several days, provided regular charging is done.

However, 1017 km WLTP does not mean 1017 km without stopping under any conditions. Fuel consumption will depend on temperature, speed, battery condition, and how often the car is plugged in. Once the L03 energy is depleted, it becomes a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, generator, and battery.

The price is identical to that of the electric L03 RWD Long Range. At 167,900 zł, the BEV version comes with a 71.1 kWh battery and a WLTP range of 520 km. The electric Standard Range starts at 154,900 zł, while the Ultra and AWD Performance variants are expected to cost around 207,000–213,000 zł. Therefore, choosing the PowerX option won’t save money on purchase but rather replaces a large battery with a 42-liter fuel tank and an alternator.

The G9L is expected to have a range of 1,602 km and be produced in Austria

XPENG’s second European EREV model is expected to be the large SUV G9L. Its launch is scheduled for October 2026 at the Paris auto show, with the manufacturer aiming to offer it in 64 markets as both an electric vehicle and an EREV.

The version with an alternator is expected to have a battery of around 63.3 kWh, all-wheel drive, an electric range of 435 km, and a total range of 1,602 km. This battery is larger than those in many full electric vehicles from a few years ago.

G9L is also set to be produced in Graz, Austria. European assembly may reduce the impact of EU tariffs on electric vehicles from China, though the final outcome will depend on the origin of components and the homologation of the specific version. There have been reports of a G6 EREV in China as well, but its European sale has not yet been confirmed.

The most interesting test will take place on the road, as an EREV with a depleted battery must prove its fuel efficiency without relying on laboratory testing. Would you choose the L03 PowerX with a generator or the electric Long Range for the same price of 167,900 zł?
