The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has confirmed that it will start selling its new vehicles in the German and European markets starting in 2027. At the Berlin technology exhibition IFA, the company announced, according to the German Press Agency (dpa), that it has signed intent agreements with eight major German automobile dealerships. These partnerships are intended to facilitate the establishment of a comprehensive network of sales outlets and service centers.

The participating trading partners include companies such as Emil Frey Germany, the Ernst Dello Group, Autohaus Dinnebier, Hahn Automobile, the Lueg Mobility Group, Fett & Wirtz, SPT Avior, and Penske-Jacobs. Yu Liguo, Vice President of Xiaomi Auto and head of international business, emphasized the importance of local partners for a reliable market entry, according to dpa. Xiaomi Auto is focusing on long-term investments in Europe. Along with a research and development center in Munich, these partners formed the foundation for the strategy.

In its home market of China, Xiaomi has delivered over 700,000 electric vehicles since the launch of the nearly five-meter-long sports sedan SU7 in spring 2024. The company targets the premium and technology segments but offers much lower prices compared to German manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, or Porsche. The second model in the lineup, the SUV coupe YU7, received more than 240,000 firm orders within 18 hours.

According to dpa, the automotive business has become Xiaomi’s strongest growth driver alongside its smartphone operations. The company’s strategy aims to connect vehicles, smartphones, and connected home appliances through its own operating system and AI applications.
