WARSAW. Larger paid parking zone. Electric cars can park for free as usual. Indefinitely

Warsaw city council members voted to expand the paid parking zone in the city. Starting September 7, 2026, it will cover additional areas in Wola and Praga Południe. From May 17, 2027, it will be expanded to include Służewiec and part of Służew (Mokotów), as well as Raków and a section of Okęcie (Włochy), according to TVN24. Thanks to the Electromobility Act, electric cars can park for free in the paid parking zone.

Currently, paid parking is in effect in most of Warsaw and a slightly smaller area of Praga (source). Residents of Warsaw can purchase an annual permit to park in their neighborhood for 30 zlotys, or they can switch to an electric vehicle to park free of charge both in their area and anywhere else under the SPPN system. According to information from our readers, this latter option is particularly cost-effective for those who work in Warsaw or commute to clients in the city.

In Wola, parking is set to become paid throughout Odolany (map No. 1; shaded in blue). In Praga Południe, the area will be extended minimally to Międzynarodowa Street, meaning it will include the vicinity of Szpital Niekłańskiego starting from September 7, 2026. We prepared both maps based on descriptions, as the Urban Roads Administration (ZDM) did not provide them and has announced planned expansions of the zones based on areas that underwent public consultations (source):

In May next year, the zone will be expanded to include an office complex in Mokotów (referred to as “Mordor” by some media), though as we know life goes on, the unregulated parking area under the overpass near Służewiec train station will remain… unregulated and free. The paid parking area will extend further west beyond the second section of the junction connecting Sasanki with road S79 (the distinctive structure on the left side of Marynarska Street), which will greatly complicate things for those who rely on free parking in the area around Chopin Airport (the area under Komitetu Obrony Robotników Street, KOR).

The fine for unpaid parking is 300 zlotys, with the possibility of it being reduced to 200 zlotys if the fee is paid within 14 days of the notice (this is new; currently it’s 7 days). Below are the maps showing the “expected scope” of the new paid parking zones starting in May 2027 according to ZDM:
