Wallbox Chargers Shut Down US Plant – Production Now Only in Spain
The Spanish charger manufacturer Wallbox Chargers is shutting down its production facility in the US and moving it to Barcelona. This move affects only manufacturing and does not represent a withdrawal from the US market, according to the company. It plans to supply North American customers from Barcelona going forward.

The Supernova DC Charger has already been manufactured in Spain for some time.

The U.S. production facility installed Wallbox chargers at the beginning of the decade and began operations at the plant in Arlington, Texas, in the fall of 2022. The factory was designed to produce 250,000 chargers per year at its opening. In a statement released at the time of the plant’s launch, the Spanish company also said it aimed to reach a production capacity of one million units by 2030.
Instead, Wallbox is now shutting down this factory and shifting production to its main plant in Barcelona. According to media reports, this move is part of “a business realignment following a restructuring of debts amounting to nearly 170 million euros.” The reason was Wallbox Chargers’ deteriorating financial situation.
As the Spanish portal Ecotechers reports, citing company sources, the production of DC chargers for the U.S. was already taking place in Barcelona. A few months ago, production of AC devices for Canada was also centralized in Spain. Finally, the manufacturing of AC home chargers in the U.S. is now being moved as well.
We are familiar with Wallbox Chargers mainly because the Spanish company acquired the insolvent Franconian Wallbox manufacturer ABL in 2023. At that time, Wallbox Chargers purchased most of ABL’s assets for around 15 million euros.
