VW's Jetta brand opens pre-sales for M6 electric sedan in China, starting at about $11,900

FAW-Volkswagen's Jetta brand opened pre-sales for its M6 sedan in China on Monday, with prices ranging from 80,800 yuan ($11,990) to 99,800 yuan.
The M6 is Jetta's first battery electric model and is scheduled for an official launch in mid-October.
The sedan comes in 3 variants: 465 Pro, 555 Max and 555 Ultra. The numbers in their names indicate their CLTC driving ranges in kilometers.
Jetta listed pre-sales benefits worth about 11,000 yuan, including a 1,000-yuan deposit that counts toward 2,000 yuan of the purchase price, a color-change wrap limited to 600 vehicles, and a choice of a wallbox charger or a combined charging and discharging connector.
The M6 is built on Jetta's in-house Jiesi architecture and dedicated electric vehicle platform, with a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout.
It measures 4,806 mm in length, 1,868 mm or 1,895 mm in width and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The cabin features a digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen. Buyers can choose from 3 interior color schemes and 6 exterior colors.
The 2 motor options deliver peak outputs of 113 kW and 145 kW. Batteries are supplied by CALB (HKEX: 3931), with driving ranges of 465 km and 555 km.
The sedan uses Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M chip and a vision-only system to support highway and urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) functions.

In January, FAW-Volkswagen established FAW Volkswagen Jetta Automotive Technology Co Ltd in Chengdu, Sichuan province, giving the brand greater autonomy.
Jetta plans to introduce 5 new models by 2028, including 4 new energy vehicles (NEVs), with a medium-term target of annual production and sales of 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles.
The brand unveiled a revamp plan and a new logo at the Beijing Auto Show in April, where it also showcased the ruggedly styled Jetta X concept.
Jetta has previewed the M6, its first all-electric sedan in China.
