VW will introduce an electric vehicle in 2027 for around 20,000 euros, which is approximately 87,000 zł and smaller than the ID. Polo

Volkswagen is preparing the cheapest electric car in its lineup for 2027. The production version of the ID. EVERY1 concept is expected to cost around 20,000 euros, which is approximately 87,000 zł after conversion, as the Polish price list isn’t available yet. The car is supposed to be smaller than the ID. Polo and is anticipated to be named ID. Up!.
VW unveiled the ID. EVERY1 concept in March. The brand’s head, Thomas Schäfer, called it “the final piece of the puzzle” because the company aims to have the widest range in the mass market segment. This vehicle will join the Electric Urban Car Family, designed to compete with affordable Chinese electric cars like those from BYD. Currently, this family includes the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq, all built on the MEB+ platform.
Innocent versions are already available. The base ID. Polo costs from 24,995 euros, while the ID. Cross starts at 27,995 euros. Since mass production began in June, the family has received nearly 150,000 orders, and the ID. EVERY1 will be one of nine new models VW plans to introduce by 2027.
Safer than the ID. Polo, with a range of at least 250 km
The concept car is 3,880 mm long. That’s longer than the former Up! (3,600 mm) but shorter than the ID. Polo (4,053 mm). VW promises space for four passengers and a trunk with a capacity of 305 liters. The powertrain will feature a new engine producing 70 kW (94 hp), enabling the car to reach speeds of 130 km/h.
The range is currently just a claim: VW states it will be at least 250 km. The company has not disclosed the battery capacity. It is expected to be the same 37 kWh LFP battery used in the base ID. Polo and ID. Cross to keep costs down. In the ID. Polo, this battery provides up to 334 km WLTP range, so the smaller model might offer a similar or slightly better result. However, this is just an assumption, not information from the manufacturer.
Where will the cheapest Volkswagen be made?
VW has not confirmed the factory location either. The Spanish magazine Autofácil reports that the car could be produced in Spain. This would fit the current setup, as the ID. Polo and Cupra Raval come from the Martorell plant, while the ID. Cross and Skoda Epiq are produced at the factory in Navarre.
VW kept its promise and introduced the ID. Polo with a 37 kWh battery for under 25,000 euros. Now it’s necessary to show that it’s possible to reduce the price by a few thousand more. For now, 20,000 euros is the target, not the final price. We still need to wait for the technical details, the final name, and the manufacturing location.
