VW ID.3 Neo starts at £33,080 in the UK

Volkswagen has announced UK prices for the revised ID.3 Neo, with orders opening on 13 August. Three battery sizes are available, offering up to 390 miles of WLTP range, while all variants qualify for the UK's £1,500 Electric Car Grant.

The new ID.3 Neo will start at £33,080 in the UK, or £31,580 after the government grant. Unlike in Germany, where Volkswagen offers the entry-level Trend trim, the British range starts with the better-equipped Life version. The model has already been available to order in Germany since April, where prices start at €33,995.

Volkswagen offers three drivetrain variants in the UK. The Life trim can be ordered with all three, starting with a 50 kWh battery and 125 kW rear-wheel drive for £33,080. The 58 kWh/140 kW version costs £35,495, while the 79 kWh battery combined with a 170 kW motor is priced at £36,995. After the £1,500 grant, these prices fall to £31,580, £33,995 and £35,495, respectively.

The Style trim is only available with the two larger batteries and starts at £38,500 for the 58 kWh version and £40,000 for the 79 kWh model. Volkswagen will also offer a Style Launch Edition with the 58 kWh drivetrain for £39,750. It adds equipment including a head-up display, panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable front seats with massage function, Travel Assist 3.0 and Park Assist Pro.

As reported at the ID.3 Neo’s world premiere in April, the changes go considerably further than a conventional facelift. Volkswagen has moved the compact EV to the further-developed MEB+ platform and introduced the APP350 electric motor, while also comprehensively revising the interior, software and operating concept. The model remains rear-wheel drive.

In the UK specification, the 50 kWh version offers up to 258 miles (415 kilometres) of WLTP range and charges at up to 100 kW DC, with Volkswagen quoting 24 minutes from ten to 80 per cent. The 58 kWh variant reaches 306 miles (492 kilometres) and charges at up to 105 kW, taking 26 minutes for the same charging window. The 79 kWh model achieves up to 390 miles (628 kilometres), while its 183 kW peak DC charging power allows a ten-to-80-per-cent charge in 29 minutes.

The new battery and drivetrain combinations also improve efficiency compared with the previous ID.3. When Volkswagen presented the Neo in April, it quoted WLTP ranges of up to 417, 494 and 630 kilometres for the three batteries, compared with 383, 429 and 564 kilometres for their respective predecessors. The gains thus come largely from the new drivetrain and other efficiency improvements rather than substantially larger batteries.

New functions also include one-pedal driving and optional vehicle-to-load capability. With the corresponding adapter, the ID.3 Neo can supply external devices with up to 3.6 kW via its charging port. Connected Travel Assist can also recognise traffic lights and automatically bring the vehicle to a stop at red signals.

UK orders open on 13 August. The market launch follows several months after German order books opened in April, with production of the extensively revised compact EV having started in Zwickau in May.
