Volkswagen dominates Katowice

This year, the New Mobility Congress in Katowice became one of the most important venues for Volkswagen Group to showcase its electric innovations in Poland – and the company is the main partner of this event. It brought six models from five brands: Volkswagen, Skoda, Cupra, Audi, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

It’s clear that while just a few years ago electric cars were primarily associated with more expensive SUVs, now two compact models costing around 100 thousand zł are among the most notable new releases.

The Volkswagen ID.Polo starts at 99,990 zł and can travel up to 454 km depending on the version. The Cupra Raval begins just 90 zł lower at 99,900 zł, offering a range of up to 446 km.

The Skoda Epiq has also been introduced. This urban electric SUV starts at 112,900 zł and has a range of up to 440 km. At the other end of the range is the much larger Skoda Peaq, a seven-seater SUV with a range of up to 640 km and a price starting at 204,900 zł.

Volkswagen Aims to Be Number One in Electric Vehicles

During the presentation, Carla Wentzel, President of Volkswagen Group Polska, stated that since the beginning of 2026, the group has sold over 3,400 fully electric vehicles in Poland. According to the company, this puts it in first place in the Polish market.

The scale of this year’s push is quite significant. Volkswagen Group Polska plans to introduce 20 new models to our market throughout 2026, half of which are fully electric vehicles. Six of these models were decided to be unveiled during KNM.

The most widely available options will naturally be the first three vehicles. The ID.Polo is intended to serve as the electric counterpart to one of Volkswagen’s best-known urban models, the Raval will be a more sporty alternative, while the Epiq leverages the popularity of compact crossovers.

The Peaq targets a completely different customer group. It is a large, seven-seater SUV that also aims to be the electric equivalent of family vehicles like the Kodiaq, although it is designed as an electric car from the start.

The Audi Q4 e-tron also saw changes

The fifth debut is the new generation of the Audi Q4 e-tron. This premium brand’s electric SUV is expected to offer a range of up to 592 km.

The Q4 e-tron is also an example of the second phase in Volkswagen’s development of its electric lineup. The first vehicles based on the MEB platform have been on the market for several years, so the company is now not only adding completely new models but also upgrading and significantly modernizing those that launched its electric offensive.

In Katowice, one can thus see side by side both small vehicles designed to pave the way for electric cars among mass consumers, as well as another version of a model that is already well-known in the Audi lineup.

e-Transporter for six people with an open cargo area

The most unusual of the six is however the Volkswagen e-Transporter Skrzyniowy. It is a vehicle whose buyer would likely not hesitate to purchase it instead of the ID.Polo.

The new variant features a double cabin that seats six people and an open aluminum cargo area with a surface area of 4.2 m². The loading capacity reaches 830 kg, and the vehicle can tow a trailer weighing up to 2000 kg.

There are three power options available: 136, 218, and 286 horsepower. All use a battery with a usable capacity of 70 kWh, offering a maximum range of 302 km. Interestingly, 4MOTION drive can be ordered with each power version.

The vehicle is less than 2 meters tall, so it should still fit in most underground and multi-level parking lots. This configuration is primarily aimed at construction teams, utility companies, service firms, and businesses that want to use one vehicle to transport both employees and equipment.

2026 Congress of New Mobility

KNM has long since evolved beyond being a typical conference on electric vehicles and chargers. This year’s edition takes place from September 23 to 25 at the International Congress Center in Katowice, combining an industry conference with a large exhibition area.

The program features around 250 debates, workshops, and presentations, with organizers expecting 570 speakers. In addition, there is over 12,000 m² of exhibition space along with 250 partners and exhibitors. The topics extend far beyond just cars, covering public transportation, charging infrastructure, cities, logistics, new technologies, aviation, and autonomous mobility.

KNM is certainly interesting even for those who don’t intend to spend the whole day at industry panels. In one place, visitors can see a large number of new cars, talk with representatives from manufacturers and infrastructure companies, and test drives are also part of this year’s program.

The list of cars available for testing includes the Volkswagen ID.Polo, Skoda Epiq and Elroq, Cupra Raval and Tavascan, Audi Q4 e-tron, Mazda 6e and CX-6e, as well as the Suzuki e Vitara. As a result, KNM increasingly resembles a combination of a large industry conference and an automotive exhibition, rather than an event intended solely for experts in electric mobility.

Katowice has become a venue for major premieres

The six new vehicles from Volkswagen Group unveiled at once clearly demonstrate the significance KNM has attained. The manufacturer could have spread the Polish premieres across several separate events, but instead gathered them in Katowice.
