ID. Unyx 09: The Market Isn’t Just About SUVs
Over the past few years, Volkswagen’s European lineup has increasingly focused on SUVs and crossovers. This has meant a lack of attractive alternatives in the large sedan segment for many drivers. Meanwhile, in China, the German brand has introduced a model that shows classic body styles still have a place. This is the ID. Unyx 09, which is now available for sale in the world’s largest automotive market. It is the result of a partnership between Volkswagen Anhui and Chinese manufacturer Xpeng, one of the leaders in developing smart electric vehicles.
The new sedan impresses right from its dimensions. It has a length of 5081 mm and a wheelbase of 3030 mm. This means it is larger than many European competitors and offers space typical of a higher segment.
A bolder style than European Volkswagens
The ID. Unyx 09 clearly differs from the appearance of models sold, for example, along the Vistula River. Slim LED headlights, integrated handles, prominently designed body panels, and aerodynamic details give it a look more similar to modern Chinese limousines than to traditional Volkswagen designs.
The interior is equally interesting. The driver has a small dashboard screen along with a central display measuring 15.6 inches. The cabin is designed in a minimalist style, yet it features amenities that were once reserved for premium vehicles.

The interior includes an AI-powered assistant, an 85-inch transparent HUD display, an audio system with 20 speakers and Dolby Atmos technology, as well as a powerful processor handling multimedia functions. The overall design is completed by a panoramic roof and advanced ambient lighting.
Charging Faster Than a Coffee Break
However, the most interesting features are hidden under the body. All versions of the model are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 91.9 kWh. The manufacturer claims the ability to charge using direct current at a power level of up to 520 kW.
According to Volkswagen, charging from 30 to 80 percent takes only 10 minutes. The brand also states that just five minutes of charging can provide enough energy to drive about 250 km. These are specifications that are hard to find in Volkswagen’s current European electric lineup.
Customers can choose between a rear-wheel-drive version with 312 horsepower and an AWD variant producing 503 horsepower. The former accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, while the latter needs only 4.6 seconds. The top speed is limited to 200 km/h.
The manufacturer claims a range of 755 km under China’s CLTC cycle for the rear-wheel-drive version. The more powerful dual-motor version is said to cover up to 705 km on a single charge.
The price of the ID. Unyx might surprise Europeans.
The price list is even more impressive. The base Ultra version is priced at 179,900 yuan, which is around 105,800 zł. The Flagship variant costs about 129,600 zł, while the top-tier Max version with all-wheel drive is priced at around 147,400 zł.

Considering the car’s size, features, and performance, it’s hard not to think that such a model could find many buyers in Europe as well. Especially among drivers who fondly remember the Arteon and still prefer traditional sedans over SUVs.
Will the ID. Unyx 09 actually make it to European markets? So far, Volkswagen has not confirmed such plans. However, if the brand decides to leverage the experience gained from its partnership with Xpeng, European customers might eventually receive a vehicle that combines German engineering with China’s rapid technological advancement.
