Volkswagen opens orders for the most affordable versions of the ID. Cross

When introducing the ID Cross, Volkswagen opened orders for versions equipped with a 52 kWh battery. A few months later, the German brand has now opened orders for more affordable versions. Featuring a 37 kWh battery, these versions are aimed at customers who primarily drive in urban areas for daily commutes. Aside from the battery capacity, these versions share the same features as the higher-end variants, including a high level of comfort and technology. Volkswagen offers them in three trims: Trend, Life, and Style. The entry-level Trend trim is available starting at 27,995 euros, which is nearly 10,000 euros lower than the price of the base ID Cross model with a 52 kWh battery.
Versions suited for urban driving

The most affordable versions of the ID. Cross come equipped with a 37 kWh LFP battery. This provides up to 324 km of WLTP range, compared to 426 km for those with a 52 kWh battery. With such range, they are primarily aimed at customers who mainly drive in urban areas. The 37 kWh battery powers an engine of either 85 kW (116 hp) or 99 kW (135 hp), allowing a top speed of 160 km/h, which is sufficient for comfortable highway driving. This is further enhanced by the fact that these versions support up to 88 kW of power for DC fast charging, enabling their battery level to go from 10% to 80% in just 23 minutes. For AC charging, they also have a built-in 11 kW charger.
A high level of comfort and technology

Regardless of battery capacity, all versions of the ID. Cross share the same features. With its clean and timeless lines, this urban SUV derived from the ID. Polo aims to redefine the standards for compact SUVs. Despite its compact size (15 meters in length), it offers five spacious seats with excellent seating comfort. The premium interior is characterized by carefully crafted materials and surfaces covered in fabric. In terms of technology, the digital cockpit features two screens: a 10.25-inch instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen in the center. It also benefits from Volkswagen’s improvements in ergonomics, with physical controls allowing quick access to essential functions such as climate control.

For the ID. Cross with a 37 kWh battery, Volkswagen offers three different trims. At the entry level, the Trend trim is available on the version equipped with an 85 kW engine. Focused on essentials, this trim still comes standard with a fairly comprehensive set of features, including air conditioning, a digital dashboard, and a rear camera. Two additional trims are available for the versions with a 99 kW engine. The mid-tier Life trim adds more comfort and technology, offering advanced driver assistance features as well as additional customization options. Finally, the premium Style trim features high-end equipment typically reserved for higher-priced segments, such as a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic sunroof, or seats.

With these versions featuring a 37 kWh battery, Volkswagen can now offer the ID. Cross at particularly attractive prices. For example, the Trend trim starts at 27,995 euros—nearly 10,000 euros lower than the initial price of a version with a 52 kWh battery. This achievement is largely thanks to cost savings from the 37 kWh LFP battery, which is much less expensive than a 52 kWh NMC battery. The price gap is smaller for the Life and Style trims, with a difference of 4,900 euros—the Life trim costs 32,900 euros compared to 37,800 euros for the version with a 52 kWh battery. The same difference applies to the Style trim, with starting prices of 36,750 euros and 41,650 euros respectively.
