The Volkswagen ID. Polo is officially available starting at 99,990 złotys. It’s more expensive than the most expensive gasoline-powered VW Polo R-Line Plus.

Volkswagen has added the VW ID. Polo in its lowest trim, Trend, to the configurator. This vehicle with basic equipment, an LFP battery with a capacity of ~39 (37) kWh, and an engine producing 85 kW/116 hp costs from 99,990 złoty (source). The diesel VW Polo 1.0 TSI 85 kW/116 hp we mentioned in the title, equipped with a 7-speed DSG transmission and in its top R-Line Plus trim, is currently available for 98,390 złoty (source). Only the anniversary Edition 50 is more expensive than the cheapest electric model (102,390 zł).
Volkswagen ID. Polo LFP. Expensive, though visually appealing
The VW ID. Polo will be sold in the future with the same battery of ~39 (37) kWh, but with an engine upgraded to 99 kW/135 hp. Surprisingly, the current Trend version features a lower-powered engine – all VW ID. Polo models, from the base to the top tier, use the same APP290 engine, which offers a maximum WLTP range of 323 units, while the higher-powered version achieves 331 WLTP units (+2.5 percent). This is completely illogical, suggesting better software or aerodynamic optimization in the more expensive version, as the weaker car consumes 13.8 kWh/100 km according to WLTP, whereas the stronger one uses 13.7 kWh/100 km.

Additionally, 323 WLTP units equate to 276 kilometers in urban or urban-suburban driving conditions, and up to 194 kilometers at 120 km/h with the battery fully discharged [preliminary calculations by Elektrowozu’s editorial team]. These aren’t astonishing figures, but the manufacturer promises 23 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%, which is a more than decent value for a B-segment vehicle.

The Trend trim comes standard with Wartburg Gelb (metallic Python Yellow) free of charge, while all other colors require an additional fee. It features 17-inch steel wheels with relatively classic wheel covers as standard. Additionally, it has height-adjustable driver and passenger seats with stitching in the upholstery that, for an extra cost, activates seat heating, the same being true for the steering wheel. For multimedia, it includes a basic DAB+ radio called One Infotainment, 4 speakers, LED headlights, and tail lights. The car also has rear parking sensors and single-zone climate control (source).

The seat and steering wheel heating along with dual-zone climate control are available as part of the Winter Package (+2,260 PLN). Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be purchased along with the Innovision Pro Navigation System (+4,080 PLN); we also get an AI-based voice assistant (IDA), which is essentially ChatGPT wrapped in Volkswagen’s software. If we don’t want Volkswagen’s navigation or AI for conversations, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be bought separately as the App-Connect service (+930 PLN).
The Volkswagen ID. Polo standardly supports V2L for powering external devices, so one can also purchase an appropriate adapter for it right away (10 A version for 720 zł, a “camping” variant for 800 zł, likely 16 A). That’s the end of the options; the finished car costs 110,770 złoty (source). We’re not sure how we managed it, but at the end of the configuration process we were able to reduce the declared energy consumption according to WLTP to 13.3 kWh/100 km, which increased the declared maximum range to 333 WLTP units:
