Volkswagen ID. Aura T6 is now available for pre-sales in China, priced at 135,900 yuan for this 4.8-meter-long electric vehicle.
Volkswagen has started pre-sales for the ID. Aura T6 in China. The car from FAW-Volkswagen costs starting at 135,900 yuan, or about $20,225, and is based on the CEA platform developed in collaboration with Xpeng.
It is a 4.8-meter-long, five-seater SUV with LFP batteries, rear-wheel drive, and LiDAR in higher trims. On paper, it resembles a Volkswagen that has finally stopped pretending the Chinese market can be conquered with just a logo.
What you get for 135,900 yuan
The ID. Aura T6 measures 4,811 mm in length, 1,879 mm in width, 1,648 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,836 mm. Its drag coefficient is 0.245 Cd, with 19-inch and 20-inch wheels available.
Stylistically, it is quite conservative. It features a closed front end, thin daytime running lights, headlights positioned lower on the bumper, a single rear light bar, and semi-hidden handles. More interesting details include an active air intake and LiDAR on the roof in higher versions.
Techinally, it has one engine at the rear axle with a power output of 170 kW, or 228 horsepower. Volkswagen has equipped it with two LFP batteries with capacities of 59.9 kWh and 77.5 kWh. The range according to China’s CLTC standard is 540–660 kilometers, and the base version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Of course, the CLTC figures should be viewed with caution, but the configuration itself seems reasonable for a car targeting the mid-market segment.

The ID. Aura T6 is based on the CEA platform, developed in collaboration with Xpeng. This is probably more important information than the price tag itself, as it shows how much Volkswagen had to adapt to Chinese market demands after weaker performance from its own electric vehicles.
Inside, we find a 15.6-inch central display, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and an 25.8-inch AR-HUD screen. The infotainment system runs on a 4 nm chip with 20 TOPS of computing power and supports wireless Apple CarPlay, HiCar, and Carlink.
Practicality also looks good. The trunk has a capacity of 576 liters, which increases to 1796 liters when the rear seats are folded down, and there’s also a 90-liter front trunk. Additionally, it comes with an 18-speaker Aura Sound system and heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats.
The driver assistance system based on LiDAR uses the Horizon Robotics Journey 6H unit and offers 420 TOPS of computing power. Volkswagen promises Highway NOA and Urban Pilot features. In the Chinese market, these are no longer optional add-ons but mandatory specifications.
There is another issue, one that is less favorable for the brand. In July 2026, Volkswagen delivered 87,099 vehicles in China, representing a year-on-year decline of 40.33 percent. The T6 is therefore not just meant to expand the product lineup—it’s intended to help save Volkswagen’s position in the world’s largest EV market.
