The lightly playful remarks come from Xpeng’s Norway head, and one of the car models they “happens” to produce will make its Norwegian debut at the Oslo Motorshow next month.

The Oslo Motorshow is Norway’s largest car exhibition, but it isn’t held in Oslo.
The show usually takes place at the Nova Spektrum venue just outside Lillestrøm from October 23rd to 25th.
And the car brand, or rather, technology manufacturer Xpeng, will contribute several elements this fall to turn the exhibition into something more than just a car show.
Norwegian Debut of G9L
For this event, the Chinese company will offer both of those things, with people getting to see vehicles/products that can walk, drive, and fly.
Yet one of the cars they are showcasing is considered the biggest news, according to Xpeng itself.
Xpeng’s upcoming luxury model, the G9L, is being displayed for the first time in Norway.
The Oslo Motorshow has seen between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors in recent years, so there will likely be quite a few people interested in both the car and the robot this weekend.
The car model builds on the G9 but is designed to offer “more of everything.” More space, more comfort, more features, and more luxury, according to Xpeng — so it remains to be seen if it will become known as the G9aL in popular parlance after its Norwegian debut.
For the first time, a larger audience will also get to see the newcomer, the L03.
The Coupé-SUV falls into the mid-size category with a length of 4.65 meters, and its cheapest two-wheel-drive version is significantly cheaper than luxury models like the G9L.
The L03 starts at around 300,000 kroner, with the four-wheel-drive version costing about 100,000 more.
We haven’t had the chance to test drive the car yet, as it’s expected to be ready for registration in Norway by the end of the year, but we recently got a chance to take a look at it:
Robot and flying car
For the first time in Norway, people can also see Xpeng’s so-called Land Aircraft Carrier – a modular six-wheel vehicle with an electric flying craft integrated into its rear section.
When the road comes to an end, the journey can continue in the air—at least that’s the idea—before national and international aviation restrictions kick in.
The two-seater aircraft is already in production and has reportedly received over 7,000 orders so far. Xpeng says the first customers in China are expected to receive their vehicles by 2027.
And here, Xpeng’s head of Norway delivers the quote we chose to use as a headline:
“Xpeng is a technology manufacturer that happens to also produce cars. We’re excited to showcase the G9L, Land Aircraft Carrier, Iron, and the rest of our model lineup to the many thousands who visit the Oslo Motorshow,” says Claes Persson, Xpeng’s director in Norway.
And “Iron” – not with the surname “Maiden,” but with the given name Xpeng – is that young robot you saw in the image right above that headline.
For the first time on Norwegian soil, this humanoid robot is being displayed. Iron was developed as part of Xpeng’s commitment to artificial intelligence and robotics, and production is now underway.
Xpeng has set a goal to sell more than one million humanoid robots by the end of 2030.
“We’ve long talked about Xpeng being more than just a car manufacturer. At the Oslo Motorshow, the public gets to see what that really means. G9L shows how far we’ve come with our cars, while Land Aircraft Carrier and Iron give a glimpse of where we’re heading,” Persson concludes.
