Geely has just reached a significant commercial milestone that illustrates how much affordable electric cars are gaining prominence in China. The Asian manufacturer announced that its most accessible model, known as Xingyuan in the Chinese market, EX2 in other countries, and E2 in Spain, has now surpassed one million units produced. This figure is particularly noteworthy considering that this vehicle began being sold just two years ago, specifically in October 2024. Since then, it has become one of the biggest successes in China’s automotive industry.
The most interesting aspect is that this vehicle is already available in Spain as a fully electric utility car aiming to gain a foothold among more affordable alternatives. Its lineup includes versions with up to 345 kilometers of combined range, a figure that rises to 497 kilometers when used exclusively for urban driving. Thus, the success achieved in China pertains to a car that Spanish drivers can already find at dealerships.

One million units produced and extraordinary sales pace
The Geely Xingyuan began its commercial rollout on October 9, 2024, quickly becoming one of the most popular electric vehicles in China. Its growth has been particularly rapid in recent months. By May 2025, it had reached 200,000 units produced, while by March 2026 it surpassed 600,000 units. Just five months later, in August, the cumulative production reached 800,000 units. Now, in October, the company celebrates the production of its one millionth unit.
Geely claims that on average, one unit of this car is sold every minute. In 2025, the Xingyuan recorded 465,775 registrations in China, a figure that made it the best-selling car in the country regardless of its propulsion technology. In other words, it not only surpassed other electric vehicles but also hybrid and internal combustion engine models. All this in a market where competition among domestic and international manufacturers is particularly fierce.
However, the growth rate has not been entirely consistent. From January to September 2026, the model recorded 310,391 retail sales in China, 9.6% fewer than during the same period last year. Nevertheless, September saw 44,275 units sold, 11.66% more than in August and the best monthly performance so far this year. These figures help explain why Geely considers this compact electric vehicle one of the pillars of its international strategy.

The Geely E2 is already available in Spain with a range of up to 497 kilometers in urban conditions
As we have already mentioned, Geely has already included this same vehicle in its domestic lineup under the name E2. It is an electric car with a length of approximately 4,135 mm, developed on the manufacturer’s GEA platform. Its notable features include rear-wheel drive and an independent multi-link rear suspension, solutions that are uncommon in electric vehicles of this segment and price range.
In Spain, the range offers two battery capacities. The entry-level version comes equipped with a 35.4 kWh LFP battery and claims a combined WLTP range of 255 kilometers. Above that are the variants with a 47 kWh battery, capable of covering up to 345 kilometers in combined driving conditions and 497 kilometers in urban driving. Therefore, this latter figure does not correspond to the combined range nor to all versions of the model.
The cabin features a 14.6-inch multimedia screen, while the rear trunk offers 375 liters of capacity, with an additional 70 liters available under the front hood. As for the price, the Geely E2 starts at 20,990 euros in cash for its Pro version. However, the brand offers financing starting at 13,590 euros, with all available subsidies and discounts applied.
