A world tour in 80 charges with an electric truck

Professional truck driver and known for his YouTube channel ElektroTrucker, Tobias Wagner took on the challenge of traveling around the world in 80 charges using an electric Mercedes eActros 600. He has just left Europe to enter Asia via Azerbaijan.

Are you passionate about trucks? Do you not see electromobility as a big deal? Do you love road trips? Then you’ll definitely enjoy Tobias Wagner’s lengthy videos, which sometimes last up to 90 minutes. If you haven’t yet watched his journey, there are 10 hours of footage to catch up on in 8 videos.

Active since February 2024, his YouTube channel ElektroTrucker, followed by nearly 120,000 subscribers, already features 339 videos. Many of these show his work as a professional in freight road transport. Currently, his electric truck is equipped with a living space. His Mercedes eActros 600 is thus a large electric camper van with all the comfort needed to travel around the world, starting from Hanover, Germany, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The heavy truck is fitted with a 621 kWh capacity LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. This typically gives this model a range of around 500 kilometers in real-world conditions for a 40-ton configuration. With two intermediate charges, it’s even possible to cover over a thousand kilometers in a single day.

45,000 km in 80 Stops

After crossing the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, and Bulgaria before arriving in Turkey, Tobias made a stop in mid-October at the Mercedes-Benz Türk factory in Aksaray. To cover the approximately 3,500 kilometers of road to get there, he only needed to recharge his lithium packs three times.

In his most recent video posted yesterday, Thursday, October 29, 2026, he left Georgia to enter Azerbaijan. The truck’s size didn’t always make progress easy. Now, ElektroTrucker is heading toward China via Central Asia. He plans to go to Australia, North America, and Latin America next.

In total, the YouTube driver plans to cover 45,000 kilometers of various roads. He hopes to accomplish this without exceeding 80 charging stops, which means an average distance of around 560 kilometers between each stop at high-power charging stations. During his trip, Tobias meets different people, sometimes giving them a chance to speak. It’s all quite fascinating!
