A motor manufactured in Spain, with 700 W of power and 80 Nm of torque, is responsible for powering this new gravel electric bike.

BH has been extremely active: so far this year, it has introduced three completely new products and several updates, all related to electric bicycles. The latest model belongs to the gravel category, one of the most popular at present.
The new iGravelX uses the same design approach as the road bike model iRS1: a completely new frame equipped with the innovative SEG BLM motor. Although it is designed for a ‘light’ usage profile, it boasts impressive performance metrics that were previously typical only of ‘full power’ motors.

The frame: a high-quality construction
The star model is the one made from carbon fiber, although it has also been released with aluminum as the construction material. The carbon fiber version is called Ballistic Carbon Layup, and while it has a design similar to the road-going iRS1 model, it does not feature Kamm Tail profile tubes. Nevertheless, it looks like an aero frame with a very compact rear triangle.

It can accommodate tires up to 50 mm wide, a size that is becoming popular in gravel riding. With such tires, we ensure not only good traction but also excellent absorption of road irregularities. However, it comes standard with tires 45 mm wide. There are also various details such as internal wiring, 12 mm diameter drive shafts, and threads distributed throughout the frame.

Engine: It’s a ‘light’ model, but with 700 W and 80 Nm of power
Yes, the approach remains similar to the previous SEG motor, but “enhanced”: the new SEG BLM features power peaks of up to 700 W and a torque of 80 Nm. BH states that “its design aims to provide powerful, progressive, and natural assistance, adapting instantly to the cyclist’s effort.” In other words, it still functions as a light-assist motor.

Sensors for torque, cadence, and speed are included using contactless technology with a sampling rate of up to 1,000 Hz, enabling immediate response to any pressure on the pedal. Additionally, the SEG Automotive eBike Systems app allows for complete customization of the motor assistance modes (five adjustable parameters per profile). This app is also compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) heart rate monitors, enabling control of heart rate and integration of these data into route analysis.

The battery is a non-removable 630 Wh unit with exceptional capacity, allowing us to travel up to 150 km according to BH. If we opt to add the XPro 180 range extender (180 Wh), we can increase the range by up to 40 km.
An exclusive SEG BLM display is integrated into the upper tube, showing standard information such as speed, assist mode, range, power, cadence, or torque. On the handlebars are ‘iButtons’ that enable us to adjust the assist level via a wired connection (they are not wireless, so no batteries are required).
Five mounting options for every preference
With three models featuring a carbon frame and three with an aluminum frame, the goal is to cater to all possible users. The prices are quite reasonable compared to what was seen a couple of seasons ago (it must be admitted that we’ve witnessed a significant adjustment in recent times). The iGravelX starts at 3,699 euros for the basic aluminum model and goes up to 6,999 euros for the most expensive version with a carbon frame.

This new iGravelX makes a strong impression: it’s already the second version, and it still relies on SEG Automotive engines, which are manufactured in our country. The new iGravelX approaches things with greater maturity, so it’s expected to be a better-built, more refined bike that will delight its future users. For more information: BH Bikes
