Trentino Alto Adige: discounts for electric boat tours
In Trentino and Alto Adige, there has long been a focus on electric vehicles through incentives, ranging from cars to wallboxes, as well as initiatives to promote electric mobility such as the e-drive day at Safety Park (Vadena) and eTestDays. There is also emphasis on zero-emission water tourism. The Azienda per il Turismo Val di Non plays a key role, offering residents of the Valle and Val di Sole discounted kayak and electric boat tours—an initiative aimed solely at local people.
Exploring lakes silently and smoke-free
Residents of the two valleys can explore the channels of Lake Santa Giustina and the coves of Canyon del Novella with a special 30% discount on guided kayak tours.
A program already tested in 2025 that introduces a new feature in 2026: residents will also be able to enjoy a 20% discount every Saturday on renting the new GO GO electric boats. “This initiative, successfully launched in 2025, stems from close collaboration between ApT Val di Non and the lake’s tourism operators. It is an opportunity designed to allow those who live in this area on a daily basis to experience firsthand a unique experience that is among the most popular and frequently booked by tourists visiting Trentino.”
A clean tourism, without exhaust fumes
The project is the result of public-private collaboration that promotes land use without polluting internal combustion engines and their exhaust gases. “Following the excellent response in June and July,” says Lorenzo Paoli, president of ApT Val di Non, “we are pleased to offer this incentive again for the entire month of September. Providing residents with the opportunity to experience this wonder at favorable conditions means sharing our places with those who live there, promoting sustainable, mindful tourism that is deeply rooted in the community.”
Kayaking is well-established, but electric boats are now gaining attention as well. The GO GO boats stand out: “They are extremely easy to operate, silent, and suitable for those who feel too tired or simply don’t want to row, yet still wish to enjoy a relaxing time on the water and appreciate the lake in peace.”

This is the key feature of boats powered by electric motors, which make it possible for a wider range of people to enjoy the lake. To take advantage of the discounted rate, it’s sufficient to show an ID proving residence at the time of booking or check-in at the lake kayak centers.
The promotion in Molveno: “No internal combustion engines here”
Electric boats have long been a preferred solution for the small lakes in Trentino Alto Adige. We wrote some time ago about the GO GO boats produced by Gardasolar, which are used in the mountain lakes there. The promotion for these boats is based on eco-tourism.
"Molveno Lake, awarded multiple times as Italy’s most beautiful lake for its water quality, is a small alpine sea at 864 meters above sea level: crystal-clear water, no internal combustion engines, and the Dolomiti di Brenta as its backdrop. Experiencing it from the water is an experience as rewarding as hiking at high altitude. At the beach pier (Via Lungolago 19), SUPs, single and double canoes, pedal boats (including those with slides), as well as silent electric or rowing boats are available for rent without the need for a license." The promotion highlights the absence of polluting engines and offers electric propulsion in addition to traditional motorized boats.
Through this initiative, aside from supporting tourism, the goal is also to encourage residents to use electric options for recreation.
