Toyota offers a €555 charging discount on electric models

Toyota and Vattenfall are launching a charging promotion for buyers and private leaseholders of various electrified Toyota models. Participants can receive €555 in cashback. According to Toyota, this amount is equivalent to approximately 15,000 kilometers of electric driving based on their calculation method.
The promotion runs from September 1 to November 30, 2026, and is available to private customers, private leaseholders, and self-employed individuals. Those who purchase a participating Toyota model or take out a private lease through Toyota Financial Services during this period may be eligible for the one-time cashback.
Toyota converts the €555 amount to approximately 15,000 kilometers of electric driving range. It assumes an average energy consumption of 18 kWh per 100 kilometers and an electricity price of around €0.205 per kWh. The actual driving range naturally depends on the car’s energy consumption and the applicable electricity rate.

Existing Vattenfall customers can also participate
The cashback is linked to an energy contract with Vattenfall. Both new and existing customers can participate if they meet the requirements. Those who currently have an energy contract with another supplier do not necessarily need to terminate it early; the new contract can start at a later time. The Vattenfall contract must be signed by December 31, 2026. For consumers who are already planning to review their energy contract, this offer can provide an interesting additional benefit. Of course, it remains wise to consider not only the cashback but also the rates and terms of the energy contract when making comparisons.
The C-HR Plug-in Hybrid is also included
The offer applies to the Toyota Urban Cruiser, C-HR+, bZ4X, and bZ4X Touring. Interestingly, Toyota does not limit the program to fully electric models: the C-HR Plug-in Hybrid is also eligible.
Having a home charging station is not required for the cashback. Customers who mainly charge their cars at public charging points can also participate as long as they meet the other requirements.
Smart charging provides a reimbursement per kWh
The partnership between Toyota and Vattenfall includes more than just the temporary purchase incentive. Through the Toyota Charging Service, customers can also take advantage of smart charging.
The charging time is adjusted as much as possible to times when electricity demand is lower or when there is a relatively large supply of renewable electricity. The driver specifies when the car needs to be fully charged again, after which charging is automatically scheduled within that period.
Vattenfall currently offers a subsidy of 2.5 cents per kilowatt-hour charged via smart charging. For drivers who charge at home regularly, this can result in additional savings over a year.

Additional subsidy through ERE certificates
Starting in 2026, electric vehicle drivers can also receive compensation for electricity charged at home under certain conditions through Emission Reduction Units, or EREs. For this to be possible, the amount of electricity charged must be reliably recorded. With an appropriate charging solution, the electricity can then be reported to the ERE system. A portion of the proceeds is distributed to the EV driver.
Toyota and Vattenfall estimate that by 2026, the compensation will be at least 5 cents per kilowatt-hour charged at home. As an example, Toyota cites a driver who travels 15,000 kilometers per year and charges approximately 2,700 kWh at home. In this scenario, smart charging would generate around €67.50 per year, with an additional minimum of €135 from EREs.
More than just a temporary cashback
Through this initiative, Toyota and Vattenfall tie the sale of electric vehicles more closely to home charging and energy consumption. The €555 incentive is the most direct benefit, while Smart Charging and the ERE subsidy are particularly attractive to drivers who charge at home over long distances.
Whether the overall package is appealing ultimately depends on the energy contract and individual charging habits. For Toyota drivers who are already customers of Vattenfall or considering switching, this combination can be financially advantageous.
