The Torcal is the most powerful Bentley ever made.

The Torcal is the most powerful Bentley ever made.

The new Torcal is the first Bentley 100% electric vehicle and also the most powerful model in the British brand’s history, with up to 888 horsepower.

After several teasers and much anticipation, the secrets have finally been revealed. Bentley unveiled the Torcal, the first electric vehicle in the company’s history and the most powerful Bentley ever built.

It carries the responsibility of marking Bentley’s entry into the luxury electric SUV segment and introducing the brand’s new design language. It is also the fourth model in the range, joining the Bentayga, Continental GT, and Flying Spur.

Unveiled in London, the Torcal inaugurates a new era for Bentley without abandoning the characteristics that define all of the company’s models: high power, top-quality materials, and a strong focus on customization.

To design the Torcal, Bentley says it drew inspiration from its own history, particularly the Continental T. Nevertheless, it introduces a unique styling language for the electric era that is now beginning.

The surfaces are relatively clean, and the body design focuses more on proportions than on excessive decorative elements. The biggest exception is perhaps the diamond-patterned illuminated grille, which appears alongside Bentley’s new emblem introduced last year.

At the opposite end, the muscular shapes around the wheels stand out, along with a more futuristic lighting design that features two horizontal strips with a slit pattern instead of the usual oval headlights.

Inside, Bentley maintains its typical balance between traditional materials and innovative technological solutions. Leather remains an option, but the Torcal also introduces a Merino wool fabric developed in collaboration with the British company Fox Brothers.

According to Bentley, this is the first automotive fabric made entirely from Merino wool and certified under the Responsible Wool Standard. Another innovation is the Ombré Walnut finish, developed by Mulliner using up to 1000 layers of individual walnut wood scraps and recycled paper.

The interior can also feature a new aluminum finish inspired by Bentley’s traditional turned aluminum dashboards, along with a wide range of colors, woods, and finishes.

In its standard configuration, the seats offer 16 adjustments, heating, ventilation, adjustable side support, and massage functions. In the back, the Torcal features three seats and also introduces an electric folding system for the rear seats.

When it comes to technology, Bentley doesn’t overdo it with the number of screens. Two are sufficient, and for the central screen, a close look reveals its similarity to the curved screen found in the new Porsche Cayenne Electric, which is about 12.3” in size.

888 hp and 600 km of range

The similarity between these two models from the Volkswagen Group extends to their chassis, as the Bentley Torcal is built on the same PPE — Premium Platform Electric — platform as the Porsche Cayenne Electric. This means the British SUV uses various components already seen in the Stuttgart-based model, including the electric motors and battery.

At launch, it will be available in two versions: the Torcal, with 821 hp and 1194 Nm of torque, and the Torcal S, with 888 hp and 1350 Nm. These figures translate to 3.4 seconds and 2.9 seconds, respectively, to reach 100 km/h. The top speeds are 250 km/h and 260 km/h.

It is not Bentley’s fastest model ever, but with nearly 900 hp, it is the most powerful vehicle ever produced by the Crewe-based manufacturer.

In both versions, the Torcal relies on two electric motors, one per axle, and a 113 kWh battery. Bentley claims a range of up to 600 km (WLTP).

Equipped with an 800 V electrical architecture, the Bentley Torcal can handle charging powers of up to 400 kW in direct current (DC), requiring less than 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. In fact, the Crewe-based manufacturer goes even further, claiming it is possible to restore 161 km of range in just seven minutes.

Weight control technology

As an electric vehicle, weight is inevitably one of the highest figures in the Torcal’s specifications. To address this and maintain the comfort for which the brand is renowned, the SUV introduces a new fully active suspension system.

Each shock absorber can be adjusted individually and independently, allowing control over the vehicle’s body movements without relying on traditional stabilizer bars.

This is complemented by four-wheel steering. A system that makes it a more agile model in urban environments, while also offering greater stability and dynamics when the pace picks up. The result is a turning radius of just 11.1 meters.

When it comes to sound, and to compensate for the absence of V8 and W12 engines that have defined — and continue to define — the history of many Bentleys, the Torcal features what the brand calls Bentley Dynamic Symphony.

It is a sound created using real instruments — including drums, viola, and bass — and inspired by the brand’s historic 6.75-liter V8 engine.

The system varies depending on speed and power demand, increasing in intensity in Sport mode. For those who prefer to drive in silence, it can be turned off.

What’s more interesting is how Bentley sought to apply this logic to other sounds in the car as well. For example, the sound of the turn signal indicators was created by recording a hammer hitting a leather surface in the brand’s own workshops.

When will it arrive?

The prices of the Bentley Torcal are not yet known in the domestic market, but the first deliveries will begin during the second quarter of 2027.
