Jaecoo’s flagship model can travel 134 km on electric power and already has a price in Portugal

The new Jaecoo 8 already has a price listed for Portugal. This top-of-the-line model from the Chinese brand focuses entirely on a single version equipped with numerous standard features.

Jaecoo entered the Portuguese market just 12 months ago, but that hasn’t stopped it from expanding its range at record speed. The Jaecoo 5 was the model that led the brand’s debut in Portugal at the end of 2025, followed by the Jaecoo 7.

Now, it’s joined by the new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P, a plug-in hybrid SUV with 428 horsepower, seven seats, and a 100% electric range of up to 134 kilometers (WLTP).

After its first public appearance at the Hybrid and Electric Automobile Show (SAHE) last October, the Chinese manufacturer unveiled its new flagship model this Friday, focusing on a single version with prices starting at 55,900 euros.

The new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P’s plug-in hybrid system, known as the Super Hybrid System, combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with three electric motors, providing all-wheel drive.

Together, they enable the SUV to deliver a total combined power of 315 kW (428 horsepower) and 580 Nm of torque. These figures allow it to reach 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 180 km/h. Despite these impressive numbers, the Jaecoo 8 claims a fuel consumption of only 2.1 l/100 km.

As a plug-in hybrid vehicle, electric range is one of the most important specifications. This Chinese D-SUV claims to be able to travel up to 134 kilometers in “zero emission” mode, thanks to a battery with a capacity of 34.46 kWh.

When it’s time to recharge the battery, the Jaecoo 8 supports both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging, with capacities of up to 6.6 kW and 70 kW respectively. Single-phase (AC) charging at 7 kW takes around 5 hours and 30 minutes, while fast charging can fill the battery from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

Starting at 55,900 euros, the new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P offers only one version equipped with numerous standard features, labeled Exclusive.

Standard features include electric front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions; heated and ventilated seats in the second row; a 50 W wireless charger for smartphones; a leather-trimmed roof; 20-inch wheels; a 540-degree camera system; a Sony audio system; or electronic damping control suspension.
