How much does a new Opel Astra Electric cost today? The answer lies in the Edition trim, which serves as the entry-level option for this German compact car’s electric version. Opel lists its price at 36,016 euros in cash through its configurator. There is also a family version that increases the trunk space, making it more versatile for families.
This price already includes a discount of 3,884 euros from the official price of 39,900 euros. It can go even lower: the brand notes that this model qualifies for subsidies under Plan Auto+, up to 4,500 euros, as well as a bonus for the Energy Efficiency Certificate (CAE), up to 1,000 euros.
Engine and battery: 156 HP and 58 kWh

Despite having received a major update recently, there are no compromises under the hood. The Astra Electric Edition is equipped with an electric motor producing 156 horsepower, delivering 270 Nm of torque from the very first moment. Paired with a single-speed transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.3 seconds, with a top speed limited to 170 kilometers per hour.
The battery is lithium-ion with a capacity of 58 kWh, of which 55 kWh can be utilized. Regenerative braking is adjustable in three levels via levers behind the steering wheel, which is useful for extending range in urban areas and on descents.
Range, Consumption, and Charging

The Astra Electric achieves up to 454 kilometers of range in WLTP testing. Opel states that the five-door version has a range of 433 to 454 kilometers, depending on the equipment and tires. For this version, the configurator shows a power consumption of 14.8 kWh per 100 kilometers.
It supports up to 100 kW of DC fast charging, allowing it to go from 20% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes under optimal conditions. At home or at public AC charging stations, the onboard charger is 11 kW. The battery comes with an 8-year warranty or 160,000 kilometers of coverage.
Standard Equipment on the Edition

Inside, it features cloth upholstery with six-way adjustable Intelli-Seat seats, keyless start, and a Pure Panel compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes two 10-inch screens, automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and parking sensors at the front and rear.
Extras worth checking out

Some options are almost essential for an electric vehicle. The heat pump, which helps prevent significant loss of range in winter, costs 300 euros. The package including keyless entry and a 180-degree rear camera adds another 350 euros. For 450 euros, you can add the integrated navigation system with Pure Panel Pro and a wireless phone charger. Still, the Astra Electric Edition weighs 1,733 kilograms when empty.
Is it a good buy?
With the current discount, the Astra Electric Edition costs 36,016 euros, and subsidies can bring its price much lower if the buyer meets the requirements. Additionally, Opel includes a 499 euros worth EasyWallbox home charger, provided it is installed by December 31, 2026. For those looking for an electric compact car with good range without exceeding a budget of 40,000 euros, it is an option worth considering. However, the heat pump should be added to the budget as well.
