BYD’s premium brand continues to expand its range of high-performance vehicles. Denza is already available in Spain and Europe with a relatively modest lineup, among which the Z9 GT stands out. This high-performance sedan now comes with a new entry-level variant that delivers 1,156 horsepower (850 kW). It features the same three-motor powertrain, but thanks to significant changes in the equipment offerings, the Z9 GT can now achieve a noticeably lower final price.
The new Denza Z9 GT has an official price of 329,800 yuan, which is exactly equivalent to 42,275 euros. This amount represents a reduction of 40,000 yuan (5,125 euros) compared to the Performance variant, positioning it as a technical offering designed to compete more aggressively against high-powered rivals such as Zeekr’s most performance-oriented models. In Spain, the Denza Z9 GT has been announced at a price of 101,000 euros—a high figure that puts it in competition with models like the Porsche Taycan.
Powertrain, range, and charging of the e3
The Z9 GT e3 uses Denza’s e3 all-wheel drive system, which combines a 230 kW front engine with two 310 kW permanent magnet rear engines to generate a total motor torque of 1,210 Nm. Denza claims an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Standard independent rear-wheel steering gives the Z9 GT a turning radius of 4.62 meters, enabling tight turns at low speeds and automatic parking. Denza pairs this transmission with its intelligent DiSus-A air suspension and high-speed stability control functions.
The new Z9 GT e3 uses BYD’s second-generation Blade battery and offers a range of 860 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle (around 600 kilometers per WLTP cycle). Denza claims that its ultra-fast charging system allows for a significant charge in five minutes and a full charge in nine minutes under optimal conditions, though three additional minutes are needed in extreme cold. The system connects to BYD’s fast charging network, which had over 10,000 operational stations in China by the end of August.
Iron cast brakes and technical simplification
To achieve the necessary economic adjustment without compromising the dynamic performance of the e3 structure, the engineering department has replaced key components that, while not affecting power output, may impact handling. The most significant mechanical change compared to the previous model lies in the use of ventilated cast iron brake discs, replacing the expensive ceramic or complex alloy components found in the more costly version.
Additionally, the interior omits certain unnecessary secondary comfort features while still retaining its technological framework and active safety systems. The driving assistance package continues to be built around the DiPilot 5.0 architecture, which includes assisted navigation for urban environments and automatic steering functions on roads. The lower-priced version maintains a length of 5,195 mm and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
More Denza models in Europe
It is assumed that this new version of the Z9 GT will also arrive in Europe at a lower price, although the company has not provided any details on this yet. What we do know is that the Denza lineup in Europe will expand in the coming months with the introduction of the Denza Bao 5, which is sold in China under the group’s younger brand, Fang Cheng Bao (FCB). The FCB Ti5 has been a huge sales success in Asia thanks to its balanced combination of performance—both on and off the road—as well as its design and price. Thanks to this successful strategy, the Fang Cheng Bao series has already sold over 500,000 cars in China in less than 3 years since its launch.
