Thuringia to provide funding for depot charging stations

The Ministry of Environment and Energy announced that applications will be accepted from November 9, 2026, until March 1, 2027. The subsidy call covers charging infrastructure for commercial vehicles, such as in bus services, construction and maintenance sites, municipal waste management, or community bus and shuttle services.

Funding is provided through a competitive selection process. Applicants are eligible for grants amounting to up to 40 percent of the eligible expenses. For medium-sized companies, this rate increases to 60 percent, and for small companies to 70 percent. The requirement is total expenses of more than 200,000 euros. The maximum grant per project is capped at two million euros. For projects initiated by local governments, up to three million euros may be available.

Thuringia’s Environment Minister Tilo Kummer commented, “We are making the transition to climate-friendly vehicle fleets easier by supporting the necessary charging infrastructure and thus creating the conditions for modern, emission-free commercial vehicles. This makes fleets less dependent on fossil fuels, and operating costs can be significantly reduced, especially when combined with on-site power generation. This prepares companies for the future.”
