Tesla is preparing the X Money payment feature in the app. The code is present in version 4.62.0

The code in the Tesla app version 4.62.0 (and newer) indicates that the company is preparing X Money as a new payment method. For now, it’s just an entry in the code without a release date. However, the list of uses is specific.
What We’ll Pay With X Money
Once launched, X Money is supposed to handle three things: purchases in Tesla Shop, sessions at Superchargers, and FSD (Supervised) subscriptions. X Money is a payment platform built into the X service. It allows users to send money to other users and pay using their X wallet balance or linked bank account.
This isn’t the first clue in Tesla’s code. A month earlier, an update to the Robotaxi app revealed that X Money will also handle payments for rides. It seems Tesla is rolling this out across all its apps. It’s possible both implementations will launch together, giving owners and passengers the same option in both places.
The same update added official support for iPads as well as Android tablets and foldables. The code also includes an FSD command program: the owner gets free FSD time when someone purchases a subscription through their link.
X Money is now available in Teslas
This isn’t entirely new. Customers can today pay $5,000 in X Money as a deposit to reserve the new Roadster that Tesla unveiled at an event in early October. The remaining reservation amount must be transferred via bank transfer.
The ties between Musk’s companies could become even tighter. Tesla and SpaceX, which own X and X Money, recently established special committees to discuss a potential merger. Payments through the app thus appear to be another piece of the puzzle, rather than a whim.
What does this mean for Tesla owners in Poland?
Not much for now. We don’t know when this feature will be added to the app. There’s also no word on whether X Money will appear in the European version. Until we know more, Polish drivers at Superchargers will continue to pay as before.
The idea itself is simple: using a social media wallet as a way to pay for electricity and autonomous driving software. Whether people will want to keep their charging money in X remains to be seen once it launches.
