The Tesla Model Y returns to its usual position in Europe and leads sales in August

After falling out of the Top 10 in July, the Tesla Model Y returned to first place among the best-selling electric vehicles in Europe.
The Tesla Model Y once again led Europe’s electric vehicle market in August. It sold 10,281 units in total, representing a 20.1% increase from the same month in 2025. Nevertheless, the Model Y’s sales growth was lower than that of the overall market. For comparison, demand for electric vehicles rose by about 52% last month.
The Model Y’s return to the top spot is all the more notable after its performance in July, when it was outside the Top 10. Right behind it is the Skoda Elroq, which lost its lead from July by just 992 units. A total of 9,289 units (+44.6%) of this Skoda SUV were sold.
The third place on the podium went to the BMW iX1, which sold 6,635 units, a 24.2% increase from the previous year. The BMW iX3 followed closely behind with 6,444 units, representing a growth of 4,167.5%. This figure is largely due to the small comparison base: in August 2025, it was a new model with only 151 units sold.

Other highlights
The highest growth among the Top 10 was achieved by the Mercedes-Benz GLC, with a growth rate of 9385.7%. Once again, this growth can be attributed to a small comparison base: only 56 units were sold in August 2025.

The CLA also ranks among those with the highest growth rates, with 5335 units sold representing a growth of +494.1%
In August, there was only one model among the top ten best sellers that did not follow the growth trend in Europe: the Tesla Model 3, which saw a 3.4% decline with 6,259 units sold.
Tesla Model Y maintains leadership
