Szczecin has ordered 20 Urbino 18 electric buses. Solaris will deliver the first batches still this year.

In short:
Solaris will deliver 20 articulated Urbino 18 electric vehicles to Szczecin
Deliveries will take place between 2027 and 2028
Almost 200 Solaris vehicles have already arrived in the capital of West Pomerania
34 of them were electric buses, while 17 were hybrid ones
Solaris with High Energy package
The Szczecin City Municipality and Solaris Bus & Coach (the Spanish CAF Group) have signed a contract for the delivery of 20 zero-emission articulated buses, the Urbino 18 electric. These buses will be operated by SPAK and stationed at the depot on Klonowica Street in Szczecin. Each of the ordered vehicles will be equipped with an electric drive system and a Solaris High Energy battery pack. The energy in the batteries will be recharged via a plug-in connection as well as through a pantograph, allowing the buses to be topped up at terminal stations. This configuration ensures the ability to handle the most demanding and longest routes in Szczecin’s urban and suburban transportation network.
120 passengers and assistance features
"The Urbino 18 electric can carry up to 120 passengers. Each vehicle will have 35 seating places, including 11 with low-floor access," reads the manufacturer’s page in Wielkopolska. The buses will be air-conditioned, equipped with a passenger information system and various assistance features that enhance safety and driver comfort, such as a collision warning system (MOIS), blind spot monitoring system (BSIS), intelligent speed assistance (ISA), and a driver attention monitoring system (DDAW/ADDW).

Panels to power auxiliary systems
An interesting solution will be the use of a photovoltaic panel, whose task will be to assist in powering auxiliary systems, especially during stops at terminal stations. As part of the order, Szczecin also opted for the eSConnect system, Solaris’ proprietary solution that enables remote diagnosis and monitoring of the fleet.

Szczecin is ordering more than just electric buses
Solaris has been supplying buses to Szczecin’s public transportation system for many years. To date, nearly 200 Solaris vehicles have arrived in Szczecin, including 34 electric buses and 17 hybrid buses. Recently, Szczecin also ordered 12 articulated Urbino 18 mild hybrid buses for the SPAK company. The newly ordered electric buses will be delivered to Szczecin between 2027 and 2028. Solaris is also producing 44 hybrid buses ordered by Szczecin’s SPAD transporter, with deliveries scheduled for the same period.
