The starting price of the Suzuki eVitara in Poland at 151,900 złoty for a battery with a capacity of 49 (~47) kWh is not particularly attractive, so the distributor launched a large advertising campaign promoting leasing at 999 złoty net per month (1,228.8 zł) with a 20 percent down payment (30,380 zł). The battery cells are supplied by the Chinese company BYD, but the only real advantage of this model is its optional all-wheel drive, which is rare in this segment.

Suzuki eVitara: a model that won’t sell well

When Suzuki’s Polish branch invited us to a static model presentation in May 2025, we expected the biggest issue with this model to be its price. And indeed, the version with a smaller 49 (~47) kWh battery and a 128 kW/174 HP engine driving the front wheels costs starting at 151,900 złoty. It’s difficult to determine the range of this variant in the configurator; it likely exceeds slightly over 300 WLTP units. With a charging time of 45 minutes to reach 80% capacity, the car is best suited for city driving and nearby areas. Of course, assuming you have your own charging outlet. The configurator is HERE.

With a battery capacity increased to 61 (~59) kWh, we can choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, offering a maximum range of 428 WLTP units. The FWD version costs from 167,900 złoty, while the AWD edition is available starting at 175,900 złoty. Considering these prices and the fact that the car is manufactured in a factory in Gujarat, it begins to seem that India’s high tariffs are working exactly in the opposite direction. They serve to prevent anyone outside the country from purchasing an affordable “Made in India” product, so that the world’s most populous nation doesn’t become overly wealthy from exports...

The version with a smaller battery comes standard (as a Premium option) with features such as front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, 18-inch aluminum wheels, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, single-zone climate control, LED headlights, a 10.1-inch central display, an alarm, rain sensor, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, enhanced regen mode [wow!], and an 11 kW AC-DC onboard charger.

With a larger battery, we get the Premium Plus package, which additionally includes features such as a heated front windshield under the wiper blades, a heated steering wheel, and heated driver and passenger seats in the front. So we were right to point out that some versions lack heated seats, a claim that a Suzuki representative worked hard to deny.

The Suzuki eVitara, at 4.275 meters in length and 2.7 meters in wheelbase (straddling the B- and C-SUV categories), can only appeal to those who long ago believed that Suzuki makes “versatile Japanese cars” with “excellent all-wheel drive,” without caring about the model’s original origins or the fact that Suzuki lags behind the rest of the world in electric drive technology, not to mention batteries. In our opinion, the only sensible version of this model is the all-wheel drive variant, but at a price lower than that of the option with a smaller battery.

This is only feasible if someone buys the car for a home where, indeed, the road hasn’t been paved yet, but they have a garage with a wallbox. In other cases, purchasing a Suzuki Evitara makes no sense at these prices.

Editor’s note from Elektrowozu: We feel that the Suzuki eVitara is like an electric car of generation 1.5. It addresses the basic issues of early electric vehicles, such as passive or poor battery cooling (see: Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe), but the market has already moved much further. Today, electric cars of roughly third generation are on the market. Suzuki is still in the experimental stage.
