Solaris is delivering another 22 electric buses to Romania

Solaris has received another order from Romania. The transportation authority of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe is ordering 22 electric buses in three different lengths. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2027.
The order includes twelve Solaris Urbino 9 LE electric buses, eight Urbino 12 electric buses, and two articulated buses of the Urbino 18 electric type. By choosing these three vehicle sizes, the operator aims to cover various operational needs with its expanded electric bus fleet.
All 22 vehicles will be equipped with batteries from the Solaris High Energy series and charged via plug. Solaris has not yet provided details on the battery capacity, range, or charging speed of the ordered vehicles. There is also no information regarding the financial scope of the order. Sfântu Gheorghe is not a new customer for Solaris. The local transit authority already uses electric buses from this Polish manufacturer and is expanding its zero-emission fleet with this latest order. However, the statement does not specify how many Solaris electric buses are currently in operation in the city.
Solaris is already well-established in the Romanian market. According to the manufacturer, it has delivered over 850 buses and trolleybuses to the country so far, including more than 600 zero-emission vehicles. These include battery and hydrogen buses as well as trolleybuses from Solaris.
The order from Sfântu Gheorghe follows just a few days after another large order for electric buses in Central and Eastern Europe. In Ostrava, Czech Republic, Solaris received a framework contract for up to 70 Urbino 12 electric buses at the beginning of August. These vehicles are also scheduled to be delivered starting in 2027.
