Smatrics EnBW has increased the number of HPC charging stations across Austria to 815.

Smatrics EnBW has launched 74 new HPC charging stations in Austria during the summer months. This brings the operator’s charging network to around 815 HPC stations, an increase of about ten percent. Drivers of electric vehicles in Vorarlberg are particularly benefiting from this recent expansion.

Smatrics EnBW announces that it installed a total of 74 new fast charging stations in the third quarter, spread across nine locations. Eighteen of these new fast charging stations are located at two large HPC charging parks in Vorarlberg, specifically in Rankweil and Dornbirn. Smatrics ENBW installed another 16 new charging stations in Niederösterreich (Altlengbach and Wiener Neustadt), Styria (Leoben and Seiersberg), and Salzburg (Bad Hofgastein, Kaprun, and Zell am See). Additionally, there are eight more HPC charging stations in Asten in Upper Austria.
In total, 815 HPC charging stations operated by Smatrics EnBW are now available nationwide. The number is expected to exceed 880 by the end of 2026. “Strategic expansion in areas currently underserved is essential to further boost acceptance of electric mobility,” says Thomas Landsbek, CEO of Smatrics EnBW. “As a result, the new locations of Smatrics EnBW can be found not only along highways but also deliberately in cities and towns, as well as in tourist areas—such as near supermarkets and car washes.” Alone in the third quarter, 46 new charging stations were installed at six retail locations. These are included in the aforementioned 74 new HPC chargers.
Regardless of the location of the available charging stations, the electricity used for operation always comes 100 percent from renewable energy – supplied by Verbund. As is well known, Smatrics EnBW itself is a joint venture between Smatrics from Austria and EnBW from Germany. This partnership operates Austria’s largest nationwide HPC network along highways and in urban areas. According to the company officials, a total of 250 new fast charging stations are set to be added by the end of 2026.
