Smart Compact Van: What Stellantis Has to Offer for Tradespeople

From compact electric delivery vans with mobile offices to large electric trucks: At the IAA Transportation, Stellantis demonstrated through the “Smart Compact Van” concept how varied the needs are in professional daily use. Our reporter Marie-Kristin Wricke took a closer look at the solutions offered by Opel, Citroën, and Fiat.
The focus of the so-called Smart-Compact-Van concept is on practical entry-level models whose features are specifically tailored for professional work environments.
Citroën’s ë-Berlingo First offers, among other things, a foldable passenger seat with a laptop holder. This is based on a manufacturer study showing that 80 percent of trips in the trade sector are made alone, so the vehicle is designed to also serve as a mobile office.
Fiat adopts a similar approach with the Doblò Easy Pro. This cross-brand strategy focuses on functional equipment rather than extensive comfort packages. Additionally, Fiat displayed an electric tricycle with a cargo box at the exhibition.
Patrick Dinger, head of Opel in Germany, explained how broadly Stellantis is now positioned in the electric commercial vehicle segment. The brand’s lineup ranges from the small Rocks to the Combo and Vivaro, ending with the Movano, which offers up to 17 cubic meters of cargo space in its electric version.
Marie-Kristin Wricke examined the various concepts of Stellantis vans at IAA Transportation and discussed their offerings for business customers with representatives from the brands.
