Smart #2, the old-new Smart for 2 people, will have a battery of 35.7 kWh and an approximate WLTP range of 300 miles. PRICE starting at 86,000 PLN?

The Smart brand, owned by Mercedes and the Chinese company Geely, has revealed some technical details of the Smart #2, a model that is the first in the new lineup to resemble the old Smart. It seems the biggest issue of the previous generation has been resolved: prices for the Smart #2 are set to start at 20,000 euros, equivalent to 86,000 Polish zlotys, with a battery capacity of 35.7 kWh and an estimated range of 300 WLTP units, roughly 256 kilometers in urban or urban-suburban driving conditions.

The new-old Smart #2 is intended to visually echo its predecessor, but it will feature significant technological upgrades. The vehicle will be built on the entirely new ECA platform (Polish for Compact Electrical Architecture), measuring 2.79 meters in length—virtually the same as the VW ID.3’s wheelbase. Given that space must also accommodate wheels, engines, and a cabin, the announced battery capacity can be considered quite impressive. The previous generation managed to fit batteries with half that capacity, at 17.6 kWh.

The debut of the Smart #2 is set to take place at the auto show in Paris (October 2026), with its sale in Europe planned for 2027. Poland is not among the brand’s preferred markets, as Polish is not on the list of supported languages. Instead, German, French, English [the three largest electric vehicle markets in Europe – editor’s note], as well as Spanish, Italian, Dutch (Belgium, Netherlands), Portuguese, and Swedish are available. The German translation is also used for Austria and Switzerland.

Smart is still working on the price, which is said to be “under 86,000 Polish zlotys for the base model,” according to Electrive. The site revealed the specifications of the Smart #2, but not its appearance, which was only shown in slight detail (the interior); the concept version remained on display. Notable features are the S-shaped cockpit and a continuous sofa that spans the entire width of the vehicle, which should make it easier to get in from either side. A space has been designated in the middle for buttons to lock and open the windows:
