Škoda employees drive 936 kilometers with Peaq without recharging

Skoda’s new large electric SUV, the Peaq, covered 936 kilometers on a single charge during a record attempt. The drive was made using a production model and was supervised by TÜV Süd, the certification agency, according to the manufacturer. The departure point was the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, with the destination being the Dutch seaside resort of Zandvoort.
The Peaq 90 model features a 91-kWh power battery with an effective capacity of 86 kWh, 210 kW/286 horsepower, and rear-wheel drive. It is equipped with 19-inch wheels fitted with standard tires designed to minimize rolling resistance. The Peaq series achieves a drag coefficient of 0.249. The average energy consumption over the 936 kilometers was reported to be 9.2 kWh/100 km.
The Peaq is the largest and most spacious SUV in Volkswagen’s subsidiary’s portfolio. The version used in this record-breaking drive is said to have an approved WLTP range of up to 647 kilometers. The 936 kilometers achieved in the test were 289 kilometers, or nearly 45 percent, higher than that figure. This is said to have set a range record for seven-seater electric SUVs.

"The goal was to show what the technology can achieve when pushed to its limits. To maximize range, we selected the most suitable route and naturally adjusted our driving style accordingly," said Jakub Krs, one of the drivers on the record-breaking journey and responsible for the high-voltage battery strategy at Škoda Auto. "In everyday use, customers probably won’t drive the car this way. Instead, they will make use of everything the Peaq has to offer in terms of driving dynamics, infotainment, and comfort," added the second driver, Marek Jež, head of the Peaq model line.
The journey began on Tuesday, August 25th, at 12 p.m. at the company headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. Along the way through Germany, there were stops for driver changes, rest, and meals. Early Wednesday morning, the crew reached the Netherlands and concluded the trip in the afternoon in Zandvoort. The traction battery was not recharged throughout the entire journey.
