Skoda Epiq: Price starting at 139,600 PLN with a larger 55 (52) kWh battery. In the fall, the Epiq 35 will also be available at a price starting at 112,900 PLN.

The Polish pricing for the Skoda Epiq has been revealed. The first model available for purchase is the Skoda Epiq 55, priced at 139,600 złoty in the Essence trim level /our calculation: 140,600 zł/. The cheapest version, equipped with a weaker engine and a smaller LFP battery, is expected to be available in three months, starting from mid-October, at a price of 112,900 złoty. Both prices give us an idea of what the VW ID. Cross, the second crossover based on the MEB+ platform set to hit the market in a few months, will cost.

Pricing and financing

The Skoda Epiq is a B-segment crossover with a length of 4.17 meters and a wheelbase of 2.601 meters (2 meters wide including mirrors, 1.581 meters high), a model designed to attract potential buyers of the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, the gasoline (hybrid) Yaris Cross costs from 105,300 złoty, while the Skoda Epiq is nearly one-third more expensive. Someone who barely managed to stretch their budget from 85,000 to 100,000 złoty is unlikely to easily add another 34,000 złoty.

This is especially true since the upgraded and slightly more attractive Skoda Epiq 55 Selection version, which corresponds roughly to the First Edition in Germany, starts at 149,600 złoty (the actual First Edition will be available in Poland in the second half of September).

The latter figure was calculated based on a down payment of 12,500 złoty, a 36-month financing period, and a mileage limit of 10,000 kilometers. A quick calculation shows that by the end of the financing period, we will need to pay an additional 81,500 złoty.

Specifications

The newly introduced Skoda Epiq 55 is equipped with an APP290 engine producing 155 kW/211 hp and 290 Nm of torque, powered by a battery with a capacity of 55 (51.5) kWh. The claimed range is up to 440 WLTP units, but this figure applies to the smallest 17-inch wheels. The larger 20-inch wheels are likely to yield around 399 WLTP units, possibly slightly less.

The base Essence version includes LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, a 13.1-inch multimedia screen, automatic climate control, and rear parking sensors. Features like a rear camera, digital key, heated steering wheel and seats, as well as front parking sensors, require an additional payment under the Selection edition. The advantage of the base version is that it offers the maximum possible range with its standard wheels, while the downside is that for comfort reasons, the Selection edition is preferable. Additional upgrades such as matrix adaptive headlights and Travel Assist autopilot can be added later at an extra cost.

Lower-End Options

Skoda estimates that the prices of the Skoda Epiq 40 Essence 38.5 (37.5) kWh model should start at 122,900 Polish zlotys, while the Selection version will begin at 132,900 zlotys. The weakest variant, the Skoda Epiq 35 Essence, equipped with exactly the same battery but a weaker engine, will cost from 112,900 zlotys:

Editor’s note from Elektrowozu: We began to wonder that if Volkswagen Group sells 164,800 cars in Poland (source) and each car is more expensive here by 9,000 to 30,000 zlotys compared to an identical configuration in Germany, then even if the average cost difference is around 16,000 zlotys, Poles pay an additional 2.6 billion zlotys per year, or nearly 220 million zlotys per month on average.

Given that Volkswagen Group Poland employs around 22,000 people, after deducting VAT, dealer margins, and other indirect costs, we can estimate that each employee’s salary increases by about 6,900 zlotys per month.
