Škoda Epiq 40 now available for order: 310 km range for 27,900 €

Škoda is now accepting orders for the Epiq 40, which has a power output of 99 kW (135 hp) and a 37 kWh usable LFP battery, starting at 27,900 euros. Its range reaches up to 310 kilometers, and it comes with new options such as a heat pump and the Premium package.

Škoda has lowered the starting price of its electric city SUV crossover. The Epiq 40 can now be ordered in Germany for 27,900 euros. It is positioned below the already available Epiq 55, featuring a smaller battery and lower power output. Meanwhile, the manufacturer has expanded the list of optional features, including a heat pump for all drive variants. An even cheaper version, the Epiq 35, is expected to launch in October.

Powertrain and Battery

The Epiq 40 is equipped with an electric motor producing 99 kW (135 hp) and a maximum torque of 267 Nm. The top speed is electronically limited at 160 km/h. As a result, the entry-level model is significantly lower powered than the Epiq 55, which delivers 155 kW (211 hp).

The drive battery has a gross capacity of 38.5 kWh, of which 37.0 kWh is usable. Škoda uses lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells here. These are considered cheaper and more durable against frequent full charging, but they offer a lower energy density compared to nickel-based cells. This is likely a key reason for the relatively low starting price.

Range, Consumption, and Charging Speed

According to WLTP, the Epiq 40 is said to have a range of up to 310 kilometers. The combined electricity consumption varies depending on the trim level, ranging from 13.9 to 14.5 kWh/100 km: Škoda lists 13.9 to 14.2 kWh for the Essence trim, and 14.1 to 14.5 kWh for the more equipped Selection trim. The more powerful Epiq 55 is even slightly more fuel-efficient, with a consumption of 13.7 to 14.1 kWh/100 km according to the specifications.

The manufacturer states that it takes 23 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using fast charging. The information does not specify the maximum charging power in kW. Additionally, the Selection trim includes reverse charging capability.

Trim Levels and Prices

The base version of the Epiq Essence 40 costs 27,900 euros. Standard features include LED headlamps, the Climatronic automatic climate control, a 13-inch infotainment display, a Bluetooth hands-free system, and the Škoda Care Connect online service. Assistance systems available include a front radar assistant, a lane-keeping assistant, a lane-change and parking assistant with exit warning, as well as an intersection assistant. The interior is styled in Black and Gray under the Design Selection Studio theme.

For 31,400 euros, an additional 3,500 euros, the Epiq Selection 40 is available. It comes standard with the Technology and Comfort packages as well as the Design Selection Loft Gray package. The Technology package includes a phone box with inductive charging, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, the KESSY keyless entry system, and the aforementioned two-way charging function. The Comfort package features a heated steering wheel, front seat heating, a 2-zone automatic climate control, and tinted rear windows. It also includes 18-inch black alloy wheels.

New options for Epiq 40 and Epiq 55

Along with the launch of the Epiq 40, Škoda has also expanded its offerings for the Epiq 55, which is available in the Essence and Selection lines as well as in a First Edition version. A heat pump can now be ordered for all versions, which can improve range especially in winter. For Selection models, electrically adjustable front seats are also available for order.

A new addition is the Premium package priced at 890 euros, available for the Epiq Selection 40, Epiq Selection 55, and the First Edition. It includes a frunk with 25 liters of storage space under the front hood, a 360-degree camera providing a three-dimensional, transparent view of the vehicle’s body, a Canton sound system with ten speakers, and a parking assistant that enables remote parking and repeating previously learned parking maneuvers.

The Epiq 35 will follow in October

It will get even more affordable in a few weeks: Orders for the Epiq 35 are set to begin in Germany in October, with an initial price of 25,900 euros. Škoda has not yet disclosed any technical details for this version.

The Epiq is one of the 14 current passenger car models from the manufacturer, which belongs to the Volkswagen Group. In the German market, Škoda recorded 226,472 new registrations in 2025, accounting for a 7.9 percent market share. With the Epiq, the brand positions itself below the Elroq and Enyaq in the segment of compact and affordable electric vehicles, where competition has recently intensified significantly.
