The Polestar 4 SUV is unveiled, and it’s much cheaper than the Volvo EX60.
Polestar has just expanded its lineup with the introduction of the new Polestar 4 SUV, which differs from the already existing Polestar 4 coupe by featuring a more conventional body style with a practically vertical trunk lid and a rear window (the coupe has a fastback profile and lacks a rear glass, a feature it shares with the Polestar 5).
The main goal of this new version is to enhance the versatility and cargo capacity of the Polestar 4, which also gains roof rails to improve its practicality (the roof cargo capacity increases by up to 100 kg). Additionally, the new model introduces two unique colors: Aurora Green and Ozone Matte Purple.
The cabin has minimal changes. The ambient lighting is inspired by the solar system and allows passengers to select various cosmic-themed atmospheres. The Swedish brand claims it has increased the number of direct access points via widgets (from six to nine) on the central screen of the infotainment system.
While the coupe comes with a digital interior mirror, the SUV includes a conventional mirror as standard, though the digital option will still be available as an extra. The second row of seats offers 2.5 cm more headroom. The panoramic glass roof is larger as well, helping to enhance the sense of space inside the vehicle. Additionally, an electrochromic glass roof that can be darkened on demand is available as an option. The trunk has a capacity of 530 liters.
The Polestar 4 SUV offers up to 630 km of range
The lineup consists of two versions. The rear-wheel drive model delivers 272 HP (200 kW), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, and has a WLTP range of 630 km. The top-of-the-line dual-motor version features all-wheel drive and 544 HP (400 kW), capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with a WLTP range of 600 km.
In both cases, the battery has a capacity of 100 kWh. It can be charged at a maximum power of 22 kW on alternating current and 200 kW on direct current (10-80% in 30 minutes). It also features a 3.3 kW V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) bidirectional charging system; additionally, there is a Camping mode that adjusts the climate control, ambient lighting, and entertainment system when the vehicle is parked.
The Polestar 4 SUV starts at 54,390 euros for the Rear motor version and 58,600 euros for the Dual Motor version. Thus, it is cheaper than a Volvo EX60 P6 of similar size, which has a WLTP range of 611 km and costs 64,900 euros; however, it features an 800-volt architecture (compared to Polestar’s 400 volts) and can charge at 320 kW (10-80% in 16 minutes).
