The Bentley Torcal, the first 100% electric vehicle in the brand’s history, has just been unveiled, allowing people to see what it looks like for the first time. With this move, the company takes a decisive step in its transformation strategy, ushering in a new era where full electrification is combined with artisanal refinement.

This model is not intended to replace the Bentayga, the luxury plug-in hybrid, but rather to position itself as a slightly more compact SUV, targeting customers who value technical sophistication and urban use without sacrificing the brand’s signature prestige.

800-volt architecture with up to 875 CV of power

The development of the Bentley Torcal builds on the technological advancements of its parent company, Volkswagen Group, by utilizing an 800-volt electrical architecture shared with the Porsche Cayenne Electric. This setup enables the vehicle to handle exceptional power levels, while also optimizing thermal efficiency and significantly reducing downtime at charging stations.

The initial range of the Torcal is based on two mechanical variants, both featuring all-wheel drive as standard through the use of two electric motors, one on each axle. The entry-level version and the Torcal S variant deliver a maximum power of 875 HP and a torque of around 1,350 Nm. Although Crewe’s engineers had the technical capability to exceed 1,000 HP, the brand decided to modulate the accelerator response to ensure a gradual and smooth acceleration, preserving the classic driving comfort that has characterized the brand’s vehicles throughout its history.

In terms of energy efficiency, the battery system integrated into the chassis enables a range of around 600 kilometers under the WLTP cycle. Thanks to the high-voltage electrical network, the battery pack can recover from 10% to 80% of its capacity in about 16 minutes when connected to high-power ultra-fast charging stations.

Technology with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship

The interior of the Bentley Torcal represents an evolution of the brand’s design philosophy, adapting traditional luxury concepts to the digital era. The cabin benefits from the absence of a transmission tunnel and the packaging advantages offered by the electric platform, resulting in a spacious interior despite its smaller external dimensions compared to the Bentayga.

The cockpit combines advanced digital elements with luxuriously crafted materials. Radar-assisted doors facilitate entry into the cabin, where comfort features designed to enhance occupant well-being stand out, such as sensory neuroscience systems focused on relaxation while driving or active noise reduction using low frequencies integrated into the structure. Externally, its visual design draws from the brand’s recent prototypes, reinterpreting the vertical front grille into an aerodynamically optimized hood.

With the launch of the Torcal, Bentley begins its real transition toward its zero-emission lineup, proving that high standards of performance, comfort, and luxury can coexist in perfect harmony with next-generation electric propulsion systems. The price has not been revealed yet, but based on the Bentayga, it is likely to exceed 200,000 euros.
