It pulled Nissan out of trouble with record sales and a price of 15,600€: now the electric sedan is calling for an update

Nissan achieved one of the successes it needed most this year in China. The N7, its new electric sedan developed specifically for this market alongside Dongfeng, began deliveries last April 2025 and quickly became a key factor in helping the Japanese company recover its business performance in the country.

Now it’s time for an update. Dongfeng Nissan will launch the upgraded N7 on September 22, just one and a half years after its commercial debut. The company has not yet detailed all the changes, but it has confirmed updates to the equipment and driving assistance systems. An especially early update for a car that has just recorded its best sales figures.

Over 10,000 cars sold in one month

The N7 delivered 10,148 units in August, surpassing the 10,000 monthly sales mark for the first time. This represented a 57.02% increase compared to July, when 6,463 units were sold. Since deliveries began in May, this sedan has steadily expanded its presence in one of the world’s most challenging electric vehicle markets.

Its importance to Nissan goes beyond individual figures. The Japanese company has long faced strong pressure in China due to the rise of BYD, Geely, and other local manufacturers. The N7 was developed under a strategy that gives more prominence to Chinese teams in creating products tailored specifically to the preferences of these consumers.

Price has been another key factor. The current range starts at 119,900 yuan, approximately 15,600 euros at the exchange rate, and goes up to 149,900 yuan, around 19,499 euros. In this way, Nissan managed to position an electric sedan with a length of 4,930 mm and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm in an extremely competitive market segment.

Nissan Is Already Preparing Its First Update

The update will arrive on September 22 with a particularly significant improvement to the driving assistance features. Dongfeng-Nissan will add new functions to its advanced assist system, along with changes to the equipment options. The brand will announce the final configuration and prices at launch.

The N7 is currently available in 218 and 272 horsepower versions. It can be equipped with 58 or 73 kWh LFP batteries, offering ranges of 510 to 635 kilometers under China’s CLTC cycle depending on the configuration. Its electric architecture also allows it to recharge from 10% to 80% of the battery in approximately 19 minutes.

However, one of the most distinctive features lies inside. Nissan equips the N7 with a 15.6-inch central display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor, while its seats feature a system called AI Zero-Pressure Cloud Blanket Seat. These seats include 49 sensors that analyze the posture of the occupants and enable automatic adjustment of different support areas.

The speed at which Nissan updates the N7 also shows how much the Chinese market has changed. Just over a year and a half after it began deliveries, a model capable of selling more than 10,000 units per month is already receiving upgrades to maintain its competitiveness.
