Rolls-Royce has refreshed its electric model, the Rolls-Royce Spectre. The current generation features a larger battery, but it still doesn’t have the Neue Klasse architecture, so we’re more likely talking about a RR Spectre 1.5 rather than a 2.0 version. It might even be considered a 1.0 compared to the previous 0.8 beta. The car’s estimated range is 494 kilometers according to the EPA (previous generation: 418 km), while the average RR owner drives about 6,500 kilometers per year. This translates to nearly 4 weeks of operation without needing a charge.

We didn’t cover the previous generation of the RR Spectre because we felt it only discourages people from buying electric cars: it’s extremely expensive and falls short compared to the gasoline version. The current edition looks interesting as it shows that the manufacturer isn’t in a hurry to modernize the model. This suggests that buyers think similarly. They’re not interested in other luxury Maextro models from China and don’t want to worry about such minor vehicles and expenses at all—the car is only needed to be nearby the residence so it can be used fairly quickly.

The latest version of the RR Spectre will cost starting at over $500,000, equivalent to 1.83 million złoty net. It has a WLTP range of 628 kilometers, which translates to an estimated 494 kilometers according to the U.S. EPA. Rolls-Royce claims that the average buyer drives 6,500 kilometers per year (14 times the EPA range), but there was also someone who used it for regular commuting and covered over 50,000 kilometers in two years.

A collector from Los Angeles, United States, “finds particular pleasure in the short trip from his hilltop residence to the garage below, because (…) the car reaches its destination with greater range than before setting off” (source).

The new Rolls-Royce Spectre II is “the most powerful RR ever built”; in its Black Badge Series II version, it has 500 kW/680 hp of power and 1,100 Nm of torque in the Spirited Mode, allowing it to accelerate to 97 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The standard version is slightly weaker: 442 kW/601 hp and 900 Nm of torque.

The car weighs nearly 3 tons, has 8,108 illuminated elements in its cockpit, numerous customization options, and charges at a maximum power of 195 kW, still using the 400 V architecture. It takes 28 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% capacity. The RR Spectre II’s battery capacity is around 120 (112.4) kWh, and it has a drag coefficient of Cx 0.25, making it the most aerodynamic RR in history.
