Ridiculous? This Chinese manufacturer imagines a car with... an integrated foot bath.

China’s luxury car models are packed with technology and innovations. Often featuring features that aren’t truly necessary. Changan’s latest idea is proof of this.

In their relentless pursuit of new features to capture consumers’ attention, Chinese automakers are willing to try anything. Changan is currently exploring an unlikely feature... an integrated foot bath.

It’s still in the patent application stage, but it could be added to the range of features offered in Deepal’s luxury models in the coming months. But be warned, it’s not just a simple basin under the seat.

The system envisioned by Changan also includes a massaging device and, presumably, a water heating function. The patent states that an anti-backflow device is included, featuring water recirculation as well as water disinfection.

China’s high-end vehicle models focus on the comfort of driving. After all, customers often spend a lot of time in their cars, usually with their families. These vehicles come equipped with ventilated and heated seats, as well as massage functions and reclining positions. They also feature built-in tablets, chargers, and holders for phones or tablets, large screens, audio systems with dozens of speakers, ambient lighting, and refrigerated and heated storage spaces... The list of amenities is long, and it’s likely to grow further thanks to engineers who clearly have no shortage of imagination.

The only limitation? Weight. Voices are rising in China criticizing the excessive weight of these massive vehicles and their role in worsening road conditions. The government has already taken action by imposing fuel consumption limits.
