Drivers can get thousands of crowns back from their insurance. The app assesses their driving habits.

The KOOPILOT app evaluates speed, braking, and phone usage. Kooperativa may refund part of the insurance premium for safe driving, with the highest reward reaching 40%.

The phone assesses your driving style

A phone in the car doesn’t have to serve only as navigation. With Kooperativa, it can help get part of the insurance money back. The KOOPILOT app records drives and evaluates behavior behind the wheel, based on which the insurance company awards a reward.

The system monitors speed, acceleration, braking, and cornering. Phone usage while driving also affects the result. In the app, you can see a score for each trip and identify areas where improvement is needed.

However, simply downloading the app isn’t enough. You need the NAMÍRU Auto Insurance version with a reward for safe driving. KOOPILOT is available for Android and iPhone, and the program applies to both compulsory liability insurance and accident insurance.

How much money can you get back?

Kooperativa evaluates driving habits every three months and calculates a reward based on the resulting score. The amount is also influenced by the driver’s age and vehicle type. The maximum reward reaches 40% of the annual premium after discounts, and it is primarily aimed at young customers.

What does that mean in crowns? With an annual premium of 10,000 CZK, the maximum 40% reward would amount to 4,000 CZK back. This is a hypothetical example; the actual amount depends on the terms of the specific contract and the score achieved.

The reward has additional conditions. The published document requires at least 100 km and 10 trips during the evaluation period. Reported damages under covered insurances, such as compulsory liability insurance, accident insurance, and glass coverage, may also exclude eligibility for cashback.

You can link the app directly to your car

KOOPILOT utilizes the phone’s location and sensors, so it can capture trips where you are not the driver of the insured vehicle. Such records can be edited in the app, with options to mark them as rides as a passenger for example, to prevent skewed ratings.

It is more practical to connect it to a specific vehicle via Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, or Android Auto. In the settings, you can choose to record only when the phone is connected to the vehicle. This way, the app doesn’t need to count every trip that isn’t in your car.

In addition to ratings, the app also provides a trip log that can be exported to email, an overview of rewards, and tips for drivers. It includes an SOS button for contacting assistance. So in exchange for the savings, you also provide data on your driving habits.
